About this Cook
My husband and I share a passion for food. We love eating good food and trying new recipes. He has taught me some recipes from his home country of Bhutan and I have taught him a few of my favorites growing up, some of which have become his favorites too!
My favorite things to cook
Our favorites right now are oven chicken quesadilla, rum-glazed pork ribs, skillet lasagna, and red wine braised beef ribs. We always enjoy taco night with all the fixins. My favorite recipe from childhood was Plantation Ham Pie. It is now one of my husband's favorite things to cook.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My first recipe was broccoli casserole. My Great Aunt taught me the recipe when I was 9 years old. I still have the recipe in my young handwriting as she dictated it to me. My husband loves the potato soup “Kewa Datsi” that he used to eat back home, and he usually makes it every week (even though it has never really become one of my favorites…the things we do for love). A tradition my mom started when we were kids was getting to pick out what kind of birthday cake you wanted. I always loved her red velvet cake with white frosting. My husband has learned to make it, so I still get to enjoy it on my birthday :)
My cooking triumphs
Anytime we prepare a nice meal for guests that they really enjoy. We love cooking for folks who are willing to try new things.
My cooking tragedies
We were using a new blender to blend tomatillo salsa for an enchilada verde recipe. I went to remove it but accidentally twisted it open. All the delicious salsa poured out over the new blender, onto the counter, and down to the floor. I quickly learned the correct way to remove the jar from the base!

Italian Spaghetti Sauce with Meatballs
This was one of my first times making homemade meatballs and pasta sauce. The sauce turned out very acidic and I didn't know what to add to fix that. The meatballs were good but a little too dry.

Grilled Peanut Butter and Banana Sandwich
OMG! This little sandwich begs to be savored and enjoyed. It made for a relaxing lunch today, together with a cup of hot tea.
