Chili Bread

Reviewed: Sep. 24, 2010
A must have with chili! This bread is SO good that we (just the 2 of us) eat almost the whole loaf in one sitting. I really wish I had a two loaf machine for this recipe ;)

Quick and Easy Alfredo Sauce

Reviewed: Sep. 24, 2010
I really enjoyed this sauce although I did tweek the recipe. I used one cup milk and one cup cream. I also used half a can of grated parmesan as well as some 'real' shredded parmesan (I don't know how much cause I usually just go by the taste of things). Make sure to add a dash (and I mean a dash) of nutmeg as it really completes the sauce. Served with fettucini noodles along side chicken florentine. Supurb!

No-Fuss Pumpkin Cake

Reviewed: Sep. 24, 2010
I made these into cupcakes and absolutely loved them! Perfect treat when the weather starts getting cooler. Used regular yellow cake mix but doubled up on the pumpkin pie spice. The frosting is to die for!

Slow Cooker Chicken Taco Soup

Reviewed: Sep. 24, 2010
Awesome recipe, just don't calculate the sodium content! Made it before a camping trip (in October...burrr!) and it was the perfect thing to warm us up. I used double (ok maybe triple) the taco seasoning and I think I skipped the beer. Topped it with sour cream, plenty of shredded cheddar and used "Tostitos Scoops" chips to shovel it in my mouth ... who needs a spoon?!? Tastes even better the next day after the flavors mend together.

Savory Crescent Chicken

Reviewed: Sep. 24, 2010
Good stuff right here! I use "real" chicken cooked with a bit of salt, pepper and minced garlic. I always skip the peppers and add some frozen peas & carrots instead. Sometimes I also like to use shredded parmesan in place of the crutons. Definitely rich but they sure are tasty. Don't skimp on the cream cheese!

Rich and Creamy Tomato Basil Soup

Reviewed: Sep. 24, 2010
Absolutely wonderful...and easy! Didn't bother to peel the tomatos and just seeded half of them. Garnished with a bit of (real) grated parmesan and served with grilled cheese sandwiches. The fam loved it!

Red Wine Braised Short Ribs with Smashed Fall Vegetables

Reviewed: Sep. 24, 2010
I did not care for the wine in this dish. I was skeptical about using it in the first place but went ahead anyway. I seared the short ribs, then slow cooked everything except the smashed veggies for about 5-6 hours. I cooked the smashed veggies on the stove seperately and served everything together. Two hours into cook time, I could tell by the smell that I might not approve of this dish. The winter veggies were really great and so was the meat as far as tenderness...but the flavor was just...off. Perhaps my error? Definitely maybe. I would consider this recipe again but skip the wine next time.
