About this Cook
I am 22 years old, puerto rican and recently got marred :) I'm a quiet reserved person when it comes to meeting new people but that goes away after a while. I'm also the youngest of 4 kids and have learn the most from my mother about cooking. I don't have any children yet but we're planning on it for a few years. I like looking up new recipes to learn more from others. I want to be able to host parties or dinner events and be able to provide different meals that's they've never had before :) so I'm open to trying new things!
My favorite things to cook
I love the stuffed shells that I make! But my favorite thing to cook has pork shoulder(pernil for my Spanish people:]). It's the biggest thing that everyone loves from my mom and I'm so lucky to know the recipe.
My favorite family cooking traditions
On Christmas eve, my mom wakes up at 6am to cook a huge pork shoulder. Then at 1pm everyone comes over and helps make yellow rice with pigeon peas, potato salad, macaroni salad and chicken giblets!(another favorite that everyone loves) Not everyone knows how to make it right.
My cooking triumphs
Don't really have any?
My cooking tragedies
Don't have any either? Hehe..

Oven Fried Chicken II
This was ok. I'm Latina so we're used to more seasonings in our meat. I usually use three main ingredients in every meat we cook with and that's adobo, sazon and garlic powder. But I decided to give this a try because I'd like to learn other things to cook besides all the Spanish dishes I know(and love). This was bland. The coating was good but when u bit into the meat, u just taste flavorless chicken. And I even made 3 slits on the drumsticks because that's how we always cook our meat so I thought the flavor would spread in and out of the chicken. Well at least the corn and mashed potatoes I made were still good. Sorry :/

New England Clam Chowder I
Wow wow wow!! This tastes just like my favorite clam chowder at Outback Steakhouse. This is definiately tastes like New England Clam Chowder. I should know because I've lived in Boston all my life! I don't trust all clam chowders because they've tasted too bland, too watery or too dry. This is perfect. My niece who doesn't like clam chowder loved this! My husband insisted on having it twice a week! LOL! I did take some advice from others. I used clam juice instead of water (added 1/2 cup more afterwards from canned clams). I added 3 cans of minced clams and 1 can of chopped clams. I used lots diced red potatoes(cooked almost 20 minutes covered, stirred it every 5 minutes). Also added lots of black pepper and parsley flakes. The first time I did it I thought it was a bit too watery for me so I put a tablespoon of flour at the end and let it slightly boil for about 5 minutes or so while stirring at the same time. Did not add any salt. PERFECT! If u know the taste of real NE Clam Chowder, you'll love this!

Alfredo Sauce
This sauce was awesome! My niece and I made it together (since she LOVES alfredo sauce with pasta). She had fun grating the block of Parmesan cheese :) but I did do some changes and took some suggestions the others made. I bought 32 ounces of whipping cream to make alot. I added 8 garlic cloves I minced (let that cook with the 12 tablespoons of melted butter), 8 tablespoons of cream cheese, parsley and some scallions for garnish. It was delicious! Both my husband and niece said it tasted restaurant style! I also served it with a side of garlic bread. YUM!! Oh and I also left out the Romano cheese and put in 5 cups of Parmesan cheese!
