Asparagus Quiche

Reviewed: Aug. 5, 2011
I've eaten quiche plenty of times before but I've never made it myself. After making this asparagus quiche I realized I just made the best quiche I've ever had! sooo good, but I did make minor adjustments. It's only my boyfriend and I so I cut the recipe in half. I also took each asparagus and lightly peeled it with a vegetable peeler (time consuming but well worth it - about 1/2lb asparagus). Then I cooked up SIX strips of bacon, removed/drained/chopped up, adding the 1/2inch asparagus pieces to the bacon grease with 1 garlic clove and 1 pearl onion minced up - lightly sauteed. I also used 3 XL eggs to go with the 3/4 half-half cream. 35 minutes exactly to cook....and now i can't stop eating it!! This recipe is an absolute keeper, thanks :)

Italian Sausage Soup

Reviewed: Jul. 18, 2011
soooo yummy! I followed the recipe almost exactly as stated...except all i had was a can of mixed beans and it worked great. easy on the salt! (i added a little too much) but overall EXCELLENT SOUP. I also turned off the stove and then added the spinach + zucchini and just let sit covered up. will definitely make again!

Eggplant with Garlic Sauce

Reviewed: Aug. 8, 2012
really REALLY good! I always order this when I go to Asian restaurants, but now I am so happy I can make this any time! As suggested by other reviewers, I used 3 fresh garlic cloves instead of garlic powder and I used 1/2 TBSP of Chilli Garlic sauce instead of crushed red pepper flakes. One of my favourite recipes on allrecipes.com! Thank you!

Irresistible Pecan Pie

Reviewed: Aug. 5, 2011
YUM! i must add that I did not use the pie crust recipe provided. instead, i used a prepared pie crust that i found at the local grocery store. few changes: i used about 2 cups of chopped pecans, and only a few whole pecans just to decorate the top. i didn't see the need for the extra finely chopped pecans. I also used 2 tablespoons of maple syrup instead of dark corn syrup. I added 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract and a pinch of cinnamon. Delicious! (i even think this pecan pie isa lot better than some of the pecan pies on this site with higher ratings!)

Glazed Meatloaf I

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2012
Delicious! Like other reviewers, I used 1 cup of bread crumbs instead of bread slices. When it came time to putting on the ketchup mixture for the last 10 minutes, I upped the time to about 15-17 mins just because I preferred the glaze to be a bit more caramelized :) Overall, tonight's dinner turned out great because of this recipe...thanks!

Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2012
I would give this pie 10 stars if I could! Everybody went nuts over it! (one person actually cried it was so good LOL). I did, however, make a few changes! :) [- add 1 tsp cinnamon, 1 tbsp vanilla & dash of nutmeg to syrup before simmering. - toss the apples in the syrup before placing in pan, but save a bit of syrup to brush over top of crust once pie is covered. - do NOT use granny smith apples. I made 3 pies and the best ones were made with sweeter apples. - place in the middle oven rack. - 325-350F for about 50 minutes.] a MUST TRY recipe. This is now my official apple pie recipe, thank you!

Cabbage Rolls II

Reviewed: Mar. 20, 2012
I used this as for my first time making cabbage rolls and it was just delicious! I did change a few things: - doubled the sauce, - added 1/2 tsp of garlic powder and 1/2 tsp onion powder to the ground beef - baked in a casserole dish, covered with aluminum foil, for 1 hour in a 350 degree oven. Tearing off the cabbage leaves was the hardest part I think, but a definite keeper recipe, thanks!

Thai Peanut Noodle Stir-Fry

Reviewed: Sep. 15, 2012
This sauce is excellent!! Here were my SIMPLE changes: crunchy peanut butter instead of creamy (peanut pieces worked as a wonderful addition to the dish), sweet brown rice vinegar instead of sake (I also used only about 1 tsp), I reduced the amount of broccoli and carrots so I could add in some mushrooms and water chestnuts. Also, I pureed the onions and garlic before adding them to the pan...flavours really come out of them and it hides the onions for picky eaters! THIS RECIPE IS A KEEPER!

Spaghetti Aglio e Olio

Reviewed: Apr. 23, 2013
This was yummy! As another reviewer noted, this recipe forgets to mention to include half a ladle of pasta water to the garlic sauce, but the video shows this step clearly. I included the water, which was necessary, and I also added in asparagus and shrimp to the finish pasta. Will make again.

This recipe is perfect! The lime really tightens up all the flavours and the cilantro really was a key ingredient here...recipe wouldn't have been the same without it!

Chicken Pot Pie IX

Reviewed: Apr. 16, 2012
My boyfriend says this chicken pot pie was one of the best things I've ever made for him. No other recipe compares. Here are my adjustments: I cook the bottom crust in the preheated oven for 5 minutes until lightly golden. Then I boil the veggies in the chicken broth for 15 minutes. I then put the veggies in the bottom pie crust & use that same broth for the roux. I also added in more chicken broth and milk to make it more creamy, as well as 1 tsp garlic powder, 1tsp onion powder and 1/2 tsp poultry seasoning for extra flavour. I also took out the celery and added in about 1/2 cup of diced potatoes and 1/2 cup corn. A keeper recipe for sure and will definitely make again, thanks!

Creamy Spiced Coleslaw

Reviewed: Mar. 22, 2012
Not bad! I used 1/4 cup sour cream and 3/4 cup mayo. I also left out the celery salt because I didn't have any and substituted white wine vinegar for the cider vinegar (didn't have that either). I also chopped up my own cabbage and carrots. Thanks for the recipe! a keeper.

Janet's Rich Banana Bread

Reviewed: Mar. 15, 2012
Remember: Use 3 very ripe bananas and MASH (not slice) brings out way more flavour in my opinion. And cream the butter instead of melting. Best banana bread of all time - - so moist

Grilled Salmon I

Reviewed: Jan. 31, 2012
This recipe never fails. I didn't have any lemon pepper and was not in the mood to drive to the grocery store to pick some up, so I left it out. I also used garlic salt instead of powder and left out the regular salt. Extremely tasty... don't be afraid of this recipe! This salmon marinade is perfect and pleasing for all taste buds!

Apple Crisp II

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2013
5 STARS! Be Warned...you may become extremely addicted to this apple crisp! Toss the apples in the sugar+cinnamon mix before adding to dish, plus sprinkle on a dash of nutmeg. Only add about 1/4 cup of water instead. BOOM. It's heaven.
