Apple Crisp II

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2013
5 STARS! Be Warned...you may become extremely addicted to this apple crisp! Toss the apples in the sugar+cinnamon mix before adding to dish, plus sprinkle on a dash of nutmeg. Only add about 1/4 cup of water instead. BOOM. It's heaven.

Shrimp Bisque II

Reviewed: Apr. 23, 2013
This recipe is beyond flavourful. I cut the recipe in half because it was just my partner and me. I used bourbon instead of brandy (it was all I had) and left out the sherry. My partner went nuts over this. Thanks for a great recipe!

Spaghetti Aglio e Olio

Reviewed: Apr. 23, 2013
This was yummy! As another reviewer noted, this recipe forgets to mention to include half a ladle of pasta water to the garlic sauce, but the video shows this step clearly. I included the water, which was necessary, and I also added in asparagus and shrimp to the finish pasta. Will make again.

Marinade for Chicken

Reviewed: Apr. 17, 2013
This marinade is amazing, especially when you cook the chicken on the grill. I took another reviewers suggestions and replaced the vegetable oil with olive oil, and used half the soy + added half teriyaki sauce. A+ recipe!

Chef John's Ham and Potato Soup

Reviewed: Mar. 23, 2013
This is my favourite ham & potato soup on allrecipes.com. I only made a few slight changes (nothing drastic): took out carrots and celery because I didn't have any. I sauteed only half an onion with 3 garlic cloves. After the chicken stock had been simmered for 15 minutes, I added in 2 tsp garlic powder and 2 tsp of onion powder to the pot. Then I used half-and-half cream at the end because it was all I had on hand. SO yummy!!

Grilled Fish Tacos with Chipotle-Lime Dressing

Reviewed: Feb. 19, 2013
This recipe is definitely worth a try. I gave it 4 stars because of how intense the flavours were. For me, I love love love the intense and fresh flavours of this recipe, but not all people can handle it. I only made a few minor adjustments: I used Clubhouse Salmon Seasoning for my seafood seasoning, no adobo sauce but I did use about 4 tbsp of chipotle hot sauce, and I grated some cheese for an additional topping. Yes, I know, cheese isn't traditional with this recipe, but my household loves cheese so I did it to please them. Also, if you don't want to buy a whole cabbage, just buy shredded coleslaw salad mix in the bag. All it is is green cabbage, red cabbage, and some shredded carrots.

Great scalloped potatoes, but double the sauce and this recipe becomes perfect.

Quinoa and Black Beans

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2013
This recipe is 100% a keeper in my books. It is absolutely delicious. I soaked the quinoa for 10 minutes before adding to the pan, I used chicken broth instead of vegetable broth, pure chipotle powder instead of cayenne, 1 can of black beans only, and peaches 'n cream corn instead of the basic kernels (the sweetness of the corn was a perfect addition). All the flavours together worked beautifully. I'm so glad I made a huge batch for just me...because I will be eating this for the next few days!

Creamiest Rice Pudding

yummy! I used arborio rice, an extra 1/3 cup of sugar, and added a cap-full of rose water (which I found in a middle eastern store). Will make again, thank you!

Simple Garbanzos

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2012
I always have fresh lemons in the house...but this happened to be the one time I didn't have any! I found the tiniest bit of concentrated lemon juice in my refrigerator so I used that, as well as juice from one lime to give it the citrusy flavours it truly needs. I also increased the peas to 1 cup (personal preference). Other than that...a great and healthy recipe! Thank you! Will make again

Cinnamon Rolls III

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2012
This is the best cinnamon roll recipe on allrecipes.com! Use the whole pack of vanilla pudding mix and bake for a full 20 minutes. I took mine out at 15, iced them, and then realized they could have used an extra 5 minutes. These cinnamon rolls are ridiculously yummy! Will make again and again!

Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2012
I would give this pie 10 stars if I could! Everybody went nuts over it! (one person actually cried it was so good LOL). I did, however, make a few changes! :) [- add 1 tsp cinnamon, 1 tbsp vanilla & dash of nutmeg to syrup before simmering. - toss the apples in the syrup before placing in pan, but save a bit of syrup to brush over top of crust once pie is covered. - do NOT use granny smith apples. I made 3 pies and the best ones were made with sweeter apples. - place in the middle oven rack. - 325-350F for about 50 minutes.] a MUST TRY recipe. This is now my official apple pie recipe, thank you!

Sarah's Applesauce

Reviewed: Oct. 23, 2012
I doubled this recipe and placed it in a slow cooker on high for 4 hours. It was really good, except next time I'm going to use a little less sugar. It ended up being a little too sweet. Other than that...yummy!

Bourbon Chicken

Reviewed: Oct. 23, 2012
This recipe was definitely flavourful, but it did not taste anything like mall bourbon chicken (which I have been on a serious hunt for!) I realize mall bourbon chicken doesn't actually use bourbon so I took one reviewers advice and used vanilla instead. It turned out yummy, but again, not the exact flavours I was looking for.

Maple-Garlic Marinated Pork Tenderloin

Reviewed: Oct. 15, 2012
Although I didn't actually get to try this dish that I made, my boyfriend just seemed to love it! I added extra garlic and 1 tbsp of soy sauce. I baked it in the oven at 375F for 45 minutes, instead of on the grill. The man was hungry so I only got to marinate it for a few hours :)

Roasted Garlic and Eggplant Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 15, 2012
I'm a huge eggplant fan, so when I saw this recipe I knew I had to try it out. Although it was good, it was definitely missing something (as other reviewers mentioned as well). I also think if I make this soup again I will reduce the amount of cream, it was just a little too much for me. Thank you for the recipe.
