Waldorf Salad II

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2013
Delicious! A perfect side to almost any meal I think. I tried making it once with cheaper apples and wasn't so keen - better apples make this amazing. Honeycrisp are my current faves. It's great made a day ahead too; flavors marry and apples look just as fresh as day of. A few adjustments I make for my own tastes: I prefer it less sweet so take down the sugar to about 1/2 tbsp; I like pecans over walnuts.

Pecan Pie V

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2013
This tasted so much more like real food than those corn syrup recipes. I was concerned that real sugar would give this a grainy texture but it was super smooth. I added about 1/8 tsp salt to help bring out the flavors. As others recommended, after pouring the mix into the crust I put some pecans on top. Glad I did as they were the only ones visible once it was baked.

Dry-Brined Turkey

Delicious! No one felt compelled to salt their turkey or drown it in gravy. The legs were particularly amazing. I even left it in a bit too long and it was still delicious. Next time I'll check the temp earlier.

Slow Cooker Stuffing

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2013
Full disclosure - I didn't follow this to the tee. I did do the basic gist of it and it turned out GREAT! Everyone loved it and I'll be doing this again. So nice that it doesn't take up the oven. Highly recommend using a slow cooker bag for easy clean-up. Modifications: I used about 2 1/3 cups of broth, forgot to buy fresh parsley so skipped that, did the herb pack that came with my bread cubes instead (just easier). Just use as much broth as needed to moisten it all nicely.

Caramel Apple Pork Chops

Reviewed: Oct. 2, 2013
The recipe worked out wonderfully just as it was written. We decided to sprinkle some blue cheese on top for an extra pop - delicious! Doubling the sauce would probably have been even better though.

Do-Ahead Mashed Potatoes recipe from Betty Crocker

Awesome recipe to cook ahead for dinner guests. Delicious and no frantic mashed potato making the day of. Win! My new go to Thanksgiving potatoes.
