I used to HATE lasagna, but it was my bf's favorite-so one night four years ago I thought I'd give it a try for him (I must also mention that I was less than a novice cook, I was a notorious disaster in the kitchen!). But, it turned out AMAZING. This is now everyone's favorite meal in our house, I've shared it at work, dinner parties, and never have been met with anything other than mouth watering rave reviews. I make it a little different every time, and here are my suggestions: Always listen to Edith Piaf while cooking this and drink plenty of Pinot Noir Also, put plenty of Pinot Noir in the sauce while cooking as well I always use less salt than called for, and more garlic and onions Baby Bella mushrooms are a delicious addition to this recipe (also if making it vegetarian the mushrooms are a great substitute) I use spicy Italian sausage If you let it sit for quite a while after it's done it hold together better, also it's a great item to prep the day before or cook the day before and reheat-the leftovers are even better than the 1st night's meal! I've also used a number of different cheeses, all turned out fabulous Have fun while making this one, it is wonderful!!!!
