About this Cook
I used to be notorious for not knowing how to cook-and having epic fails at every attempt...until I attempted a recipe from this site that is still my boyfriend's favorite meal ever.
My favorite things to cook
Lasagna, spaghetti sauce, anything Italian. I grew up in an Italian family...and you can use lots of wine in virtually every Italian recipe.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Making lasagna has become a family night of listening to Edith Piaf, drinking wine, and laughing-it's wonderful.
My cooking triumphs
Lasagna, Tiramisu Layer Cake, Cornish Game Hens, Full Thanksgiving spread, Black Bean Tortilla Pie, and I do a TERRIFIC steak and asparagus night-super simple-but super delish!
My cooking tragedies
Zucchini Chocolate Chip Muffins...I attempted to make them as a treat for my staff and they did not look like muffins, tasted kind of okay, and I ended up with a bad burn on my arm. Fail.

Best Brownies
I made these yesterday to bring to a BBQ and they were delicious!!! I've never made brownies before (even out of the box!) and these were perfect! The cooking time was quite a bit less for me-but my oven cooks everything faster...and I think putting the frosting on while warm is a key step-we also put them in the fridge for about an hour or so so they would set and we could cut them to bring along. One comment I received is, "these have the prefect amount of melt-in-your-mouth-goodness!" They ended up tasting like those Little Debbie soft brownies-only fudgier and gooey-er! I added walnuts to the top and also a bit of milk to the frosting as suggested-as it was rather thick. These are fabulous!

Juicy Thanksgiving Turkey
We used this recipe for last Thanksgiving and it was incredibly J-U-I-C-Y! I think this was the best & juiciest turkey I've ever had! I think we did forget to use the orange...which this Thanksgiving we will definitely remember to add. My bf was in charge of most of the turkey-related jobs, and he also added some of the white zinfandel that we were drinking, it tasted delish. We also bought a pre-mixed turkey spice from our local gourmet market and used that along with rosemary, sage, parsley & thyme-it added more of a seasoned flavor that we loved!

The Best Mashed Potatoes
I made these last Thanksgiving and they were SUPER yummy! I do believe I added more milk and I think this Thanksgiving I'll try sour cream rather than cream cheese. I think I added a dash of rosemary as well, and will probably experiment with that more. Delicious!
