One Week – Six Dinners – Just $100

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2014
We have just completed our week of meals on this plan. We already had about 50% of the grocery list in stock. To get the balance of the items it cost $118 in our region of southern Ontario, Canada. It was easy to follow and the recipes were delicious. We would tweak the pasta recipe and the bean salad just slightly but all recipes were very tasty and we did not run out of food. We fed three adults dinner for 6 nights (some were packed to take away for work meals and family loved it). Will do again only modify with different recipes.

Roast Sticky Chicken-Rotisserie Style

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2014
I made this to the exact instructions only we put our two chickens on rotisserie in the BBQ. Best tasting, looking and smelling chicken we have ever had. Never have prepared chicken in this way before and will be doing it again very soon. The extra chicken served for several other meals this weak and was so tasty as leftovers too.

Taco Seasoning I

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2014
Mixed this mildly hot taco seasoning into a little mayonnaise and tossed some chicken chunks into it. Used this mixture in soft tacos with lettuce and tomato and a bit of sour cream. Family loved it.

Corn and Black Bean Salad

Very nice. Use fresh everything aside from the canned ingredients. I would add Spanish onion next time.

Broccoli with Rigatoni

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2014
This was surprisingly disappointing to me because while cooking, it was so fragrant and great consistency. I will try one more time and use smaller pasta, maybe penne and a little bit more broccoli. Possibly throw in some cream cheese with the Parmesan to moisten it up a bit. Mmm mmm, smelled so delicious but was a bit sticky and bland.

Roquefort Pear Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2014
This is easily one of the tastiest salads I have ever made. My man actually commented on it after I packed it in his work lunch. A rare happening. As typical, I have followed the recipe verbatim. It was my first time doing the candied nuts. Was amazed how quick and simple it was. Made me feel like a chef. :) Will make this again and again. The dressing is very nice tasting. Use good quality olive oil.

Tasty Tuna Burgers

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2014
I made these tuna burgers for the family and we loved them. Delicious. Again, I followed the recipe closely but DID use three cans of tuna which made 8 small burgers which were perfect for the Wonder Bread small sized buns. I just knew that 1 can would not be enough. A type-O in the recipe maybe? Thanks.

Creamy Rice Pudding

Just now making this excellent tasting recipe for the umpteenth time. The best tip I can offer is, follow the recipe exactly but make it short grain rice. Perfect every time.

Simple White Cake

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2013
This is the dream cake I have been looking for. So easy to make, dense but not doughy, moist not crumbly, lightly vanilla flavoured and just the right sweetness. I followed the recipe to the letter. Didn't really know how long to mix but I ended up mixing on medium setting for about 2 minutes. I resisted the temptation to add a bit more milk when the batter turned out very thick and needed spreading in the pan. I used this recipe for a version of a Pineapple Upside Down cake. Into a 9" round cake pan I poured melted 1/2 cup of butter and mixed in 1 1/2 cups of brown sugar and smoothed it around the pan. Then I arranged 7 pineapple rings from a can on top of this mixture beginning in the middle of the pan. Over this I scooped and spread smooth the White Cake batter and baked at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Made this twice and it was delicious.

Easy Meatloaf

Just served this for dinner tonight. It was fast to prepare and easy to put together. Turned out to be delicious and moist. Served it with boiled potatoes, carrots and corn. There was enough left over for lunch tomorrow.
