Grilled Ham Steak

Reviewed: May 18, 2012
I used low sugar apricot preserves and followed the rest of the recipe as stated. The sauce had a very mild flavor. We liked it but have a few other ham steak recipes that we like better. This was nice for a change though.

Grilled Sausage with Potatoes and Green Beans

Reviewed: May 17, 2012
I decided to try and make exactly as recipe states but ended up using about 1 lb beans and 1 lb potatoes (cut in bite size pieces). We cooked on indirect heat on a gas grill for 15 minutes on each side. It came out fantastic. Next time will add a little garlic and maybe a few sprinkles of beef bullion granules. We had no problem with burning or sticking to the foil. This recipe will definitely be added to our camping recipe list.

World's Best Pasta Sauce!

Reviewed: May 12, 2012
I used ground Italian sausage instead of sliced links and left out the fennel seed because I am not a fan. The sauce came out very thick and meaty. Great flavor but next time will cut down on the meat and will make in the crock pot like other reviewers mentioned. Thanks!

Raspberry Tilapia

Reviewed: May 10, 2012
I used a light raspberry vinaigrette in place of the vinegar and oil since this vinaigrette was made with EVOO. I only added half the honey called for in the recipe, but wow ... this was really sweet and my husband and I thought the fish could use more seasonings i.e. salt, pepper, garlic ,etc. Might try again with no honey and more seasonings.

Crispy Potato Wedges

Reviewed: May 8, 2012
Made as stated in recipe except cut potatoes into 8 slices each and baked 20 minutes on each side. Really easy to make. Next time I might cut back on the pepper and add some other seasonings like rosemary or paprika etc. Easy to make with whatever you're feeling at the time. I used a non stick pan and had no big mess, the pan was very easy to clean up. Next time will follow some reviews that broiled a few minutes at the end.

Mandarin Orange Cake I

Reviewed: Apr. 10, 2012
I have a similar recipe that I use to make a three layer cake but figured I would try this recipe to make a 9X13. My other recipe only uses 1/2 cup oil and the frosting uses more cool whip and less of the pineapple juice.

Honey Almond Chicken

Reviewed: Apr. 6, 2012
Nice subtle tasting chicken recipe. Very easy to prepare. I used skinless, boneless chicken breasts and followed other reviews by using a little less butter and setting oven to 375 near the end of baking time. Will be making this again.

Cheddar Penne with Sausage and Peppers

Reviewed: Apr. 2, 2012
I thought the cheese sauce was bland. I will probably heat up the leftovers with some velveeta to add flavor. My husband said it was okay but I don't think I would make again.

Thyme Green Beans with Almonds

Reviewed: Mar. 15, 2012
I steamed my green beans in the microwave using a steamer bag. Only takes 3-4 minutes. The other change I made was using 1 tsp dried thyme. I am sure it is better with fresh but my husband and I still loved this side dish.

15-Minute Dinner Nachos Supreme

Reviewed: Mar. 2, 2012
Super easy and super good. Makes a lot. I served the toppings on the side which included chopped onions (for my husband). He ate his like a taco salad by crushing the tortilla chips on top. Took a little over 5 minutes for the rice to completely cook. Definitely a do again dinner.

Triple Bypass

My son and I loved this recipe. My husband was so so about it. Only thing different I did was slice the Velveeta and layer it on top the last 5 minutes of baking and it melted just fine.

Four-Berry Smoothies

Reviewed: Jan. 31, 2012
I used 1% milk and frozen sweetened strawberries since that is what I had but followed the rest of the recipe as written. This is my son's 2nd favorite smoothie. The flavors go together really well. The seeds are a little annoying but the flavor makes up for it.

Turkey Noodle Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2012
I used turkey broth from cooking the carcass in place of the water. I skipped the peas and gravy mix, I wasn't sure I would like the gravy mix added but I am intrigued so will try it next time. I substituted packaged egg noodles for frozen and cooked them 7 minutes and added them to the soup the last 5 minutes. After a taste test I added basil, parsley, garlic pepper, garlic salt, salt and white pepper.

Ham and Pineapple Dinner

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2012
Yummy! I used a 20 oz can of pineapple tidbits. The tidbits were the perfect size for this recipe. I chopped a half of a green bell pepper and stir fried that for a few minutes before adding the ham, onions and pineapple. I only had 1 cup of pineapple juice so added 1/3 cup unsweetened grape juice. After reading the reviews, I only used half the cider vinegar called for and I am glad I did. Defiinitely a keeper for us to use up leftover ham.
