Italian Sausage Tortellini Soup

Reviewed: Apr. 24, 2011
I used a big crockpot for this recipe. I doubled the recipe and this caused the crockpot to overflow so I had to take some liquid out. I used white wine instead of red and used 1/2 of what it asked for and it turned out fine with no hint of the alcohol taste. I used 9 Johnsonville italian brats and cut those up and I used 2 bags of tortellini (too much :) ). The tortellini really soaked up the liquid so keep that it mind. I didn't use green pepper because I didn't have one. I also used a big can of tomatoes stewed and chopped and then another 8 oz can instead of the fresh tomatoes. I poured the liquid in too. Now I have lots of leftovers but someone mentioned that this freezes well so I hope they are right. I fried the sausage and onion and then I combined everything into a crockpot and cooked for 3 hours on low and 3 hours on high. I also forgot to drain the fat before I added the onions so I had to scoop out the fat later on. I added the frozen pasta 45 minutes before serving.

Ranch Burgers

Reviewed: Apr. 21, 2011
I halved this recipe. It made 3 good size burgers. I used a full packet of Uncle Dan's ranch. This ended up being too salty. Also I would mince the onion. The chopped onion I think contributed to the burger not staying together. I cooked on GForeman. My husband loved these.

My Best Clam Chowder

Reviewed: Apr. 21, 2011
This turned out really well. I cooked in big crockpot so I doubled the recipe and it filled it to the brim. The one thing you shold do if cooking in crock pot is step number two. Do that first and then throw everything into the crockpot and let it cook on low for 6 to 8 hours. For step 2 I melted the butter and combined all the wet ingredients and then added the flour. It left little clumps of flour throughout. In the end it still tasted great but didn't turn out too pretty.

Slow Cooker Chicken Stroganoff

Reviewed: Apr. 21, 2011
I give this a four since I had to modify recipe (since I couldn't find the dry italian dressing mix at the store). I used oregano and garlic as a substitution. This tasted really really bland. My husband liked it though and thought I should make it again, so go figure.

Posole Soup

Reviewed: Apr. 21, 2011
I adjusted this recipe. I cooked it in my big crock pot. I used 4lbs of pork shoulder. I cut up the meat into squares but still added the fat and the bone for flavor. Cooked for 2 hours on low. I then used the new mexico chilis (rehydrated and then blended). I used 6 of them and put all of them in my crockpot. Even then the broth tasted really bland. So I added chicken bouillion (the mexican and american kind - not sure if this makes a difference - about 4 cubes worth). I then added red pepper flakes (don't add too much or this becomes spicy really really quickly). I also added garlic powder (about 2 tbls).

Sausage Casserole

Reviewed: Apr. 21, 2011
This turned out really well and was super easy to make. I used the frozen shreds (defrosted them first). This would feed 4 adults easily.

Delicious Ham and Potato Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2010
My husband ended up making this recipe. It tasted good (a bit spicy, I'm assuming because of the pepper). It also ended up watery even after adding the flour. I would also add more ham.

Awesome Slow Cooker Pot Roast

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2010
This was a great easy recipe. The sauce was a little liquidy but could easily be souped up with a roll. I did brown the meat first and cut off the fat. I used a 3.5 lb roast and added carrots 3 hours before serving. I rubbed the roast with salt and pepper but wouldn't do it next time since the sauce ended up a little to salty.

Debdoozie's Blue Ribbon Chili

Reviewed: Aug. 27, 2010
I've made this chili twice without changing anything. I cooked this in a crockpot both times. I have a bigger crockpot so I change the serving size to 12 so that it fills it up. I have used medium salsa and hot chili seasoning(split with regular chili seasoning) but it wasn't really spicy at all.

Janet's Rich Banana Bread

Reviewed: Aug. 27, 2010
This turned out excellent. I followed the recipe almost as written but left out the nuts. I cookied the bread longer about (10 more minutes) because I had to use smaller pans and was unsure how much I was supposed to put in per pan.
