Let's see. 1 husband, 2 kids, 2 jobs, one full time one part time, and a large garden = super busy. I feel that it my primary job to provide good, healthy meals for my family. I prepare many meals in advance that I can freeze and use when I need them so that I can maket the most of my time with my kids. I will not settle for just putting a sandwich in front of my kids and calling that a meal.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mother, sister-in-law, and I have begun having a baking day every year. Our day is normally held right after Thanksgiving and we make all kinds of goodies to split up between the 3 families. We love doing this and hope to pass it to our daughters when they are older. We will also be having a day that we are making pig-in-a-blanket soon. This is a more local dish that is somewhat time consuming and doing it with family should be alot of fun!
My cooking tragedies
When I first began dating the man that is now my husband, I really wanted to impress him, so I asked if I could come over to his place one night to make him a meal. Well, of course he said yes as his cooking is NOT good. So, I was over there, busy working away and went to take the main dish out of the oven only to discover that I had not turned the oven on. Well, he must have found some way to forgive me, we've been married 3 years now.
