Hungry Man's Baked Chicken

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2005
I gave this a three, because I had to do so many other things to it. I added white wine and butter and basted the drumsticks with it. Also near the end of the cooking time the chicken wasn't crunchy in fact it looked kind of gross, so I turned the oven up and broiled the chicken for about 5 minutes. The flavor was ok. One good thing was that hubby liked it, which is amazing because he hates dark meat.

Delilah's Frosted Cut-Out Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2005
This was fabulous. I've never made sugar cookie dough from scratch, I ussually use the pillsbury roll, but this was easy and the kids LOVED it. The dough was not a problem at all and I really didn't run into an sticky problems. I used butter rather than the shortening (I didn't have any shortening) The flavor was good and with the frosting these made wonderful cookies. We used them to make christmas tree, snowflake, and candy cane cookies. The thicker you roll it the softer the cookie turns out. I used wax paper to roll it out on but found I didn't even need wax paper over the top. This is def. going into our recipe files and will be are fav cookie cutter cookies!! Thanks for sharing.

Oatmeal Cinnamon Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2005
I was dissappointed with this recipe. No matter how I placed them on the tray or what I cooked them on a cookie sheet or baking stone, they flattened a lot and were really crispy around the edges. They were gooey, which I liked but almost impossible to get off the baking stone. Maybe it was the baker? The flavor was good, but I'm still in search of a good oatmeal cookie that I can add the cinnamon chips to.

Almond Cookies I

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2005
I LOVE these cookies. They are a great little treat and if you love almonds you'll love their flavor. I made these for a Christmas party and they did not last past the first half hour. I didn't have amoretto so I used almond extract, approx 1 1/2 tsp (I just poured it in LOL) They do not spread but I liked this fact. I scooped the dough up with a teaspon then rolled it into balls I got about 18 on a small cookie sheet. Then I used sliced almonds and pressed them into the middle. These made little half dollar size cookies that are wonderful!!! I think next time I will try making it with Splenda for a low sugar version that even my diabetic brother in law can eat. Thanks for sharing this!!

Banana Oatmeal Cookies II

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2005
This cookie is pretty good. Not my favorite, but the banana flavor was a nice change. They are a little more cakey than I expected. I omitted the walnuts and instead of cinnamon and cloves I used pumpkin spice. These did not spread, so I used a fork to push them down. After they were cooled I sprinkled powdered sugar over the top.

Candy Cane Fudge

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2005
This is an interesting fudge. It turned out great and was pretty simple. It wasn't as big of a hit as I thought it would be, but I think it was just such a unique and unexpected change from the traditional chocolate and peanut butter fudges. I liked it. Thanks for sharing!

Amish Macaroni Salad

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2005
I had never made home made mac salad before. This wasn't very hard, and tasted fantastic. Even my kids who don't ussually eat the store bought stuff ate this, and one requests I make it for every BBQ.

Awesome and Easy Creamy Corn Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2005
Ok, I have to say this, my kids LOVE this, and it is soooo easy. Every time I make corn they want this instead. My oldest liked it with less lumpy corn so I put the corn in a blender and she LOVED it too. I also made this for Thanksgiving and people were scraping the dish to get the last bits!!

Marbled Pumpkin Cheesecake

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2005
I made this for Thanksgiving and it was a HUGE hit. It didn't last more than 24 hours. Which is saying a LOT since there were about 20 other desserts available. I didn't have any gingersnap cookies available, so I added some ginger and a little pumpkin spice into crushed graham crackers. It made a completely different and wonderful tasting crust. I refrigerated the filling to make it thicker so it didn't just mix together. Everyone thought this was good to eat and nice to look at as well!

Nostalgic Apple Pie

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2005
This pie was not my fav. I can not have sugar and Splenda is one of my fav artifial sweeteners, but in this recipe there was a def. after taste. I didn't tell other people that it was made from Splenda, and it DID get eaten, but it was not the fav, or a big hit. I'll keep looking for low sugar alternatives.

BLT Dip

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2005
WOW!!! This was great. Everyone loved this, except my hubby who doesn't like tomatoes. This is always gone pretty quickly. For even easier cooking I microwave the bacon. Also I use a bread bowl and buy an xtra loaf of french bread, cut it up and toast it for dipping.

Baked Beans II

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2005
These Baked beans are easy easy easy and soooo good. My 6 year old son LOVES them. Whenever I am cooking for carry in dinners or to have people over he ALWAYS asks if I will make these. I chop the onions up REALLY fine so that the kiddos don't notice them so much but it still infuses the flavor! Thanks for sharing this recipe

Christmas Brunch Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2005
This is an awesome recipe! I had one like this a long time ago, but lost it. I did not use the mushrooms, as no one in my family likes them, and instead of Bacon, I used sausage. What flavor!!!! This Christmas I will be making 2. One with sausage the other with diced ham. We will def. be adding this to our traditional Christmas morning breakfast. I can make it the night before, and put it in the oven in the morning, and when the kids are done with presents they have a warm breakfast that I didn't have to slave over. Thanks for sharing!!!

Chocolate Mint Candies Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2005
These were really pretty to look at. The andes mints gave a great flavor. I made some with the traditional chocolate mint andes, but also found cherry chocolate, and the pink swirled in was beautiful. Sadly, they didn't taste quite as good as they looked. The actual cookie part lacked something, though I won't pretend to know what that was. Everyone who tasted them loved the mints and the beauty but said the cookie was just so-so.
