Deer Chop Hurry

Reviewed: Feb. 9, 2010
I have never cooked deer meat before so I thought by cooking it in the crock pot, there would be less room for error. I thought it turned out great. It had a lot of flavor and made quite a bit of gravy. It does kinda remind me of beef stroganoff. This is good with mashed potatoes or stroganoff noodle or just plain egg noodles.

Hot Cocoa Mix

Reviewed: Feb. 9, 2010
I thought it was a very good recipe. It doesn't make very much and powdered milk is expensive. I don't know if it is that much better than store bought to make it worth the price. I like this recipe because it is a dry mix and can be stored and used later. I thought it would be good for my large crowd at Christmas but like I said, it only made about 6 cups.

I mixed everything together instead of layering it. It wasn't very flavorful, cannot pinpoint what was missing though.

Charleston Breakfast Casserole

Reviewed: Feb. 9, 2010
I did not like the soggy croutons on the bottom and it was a very strong flavor. That was probably the flavor of croutons I used. Maybe if I cook the croutons first then add ingredients as I had read.

Tangy Honey Glazed Ham

I mixed all the ingredients put it in an oven bag in with the ham in the ovenand turned the bag over every 20 minutes. Very tasty and juicy. My family preferred the honey ham without the tang of the pineapple but this recipes is great.

Honey Glazed Ham

They are right, it tastes like a honey baked ham. I took others suggestions and used an oven bag. I mixed all the ingredients put them in the oven bag with my ham and turned it every 20 mintues. I did not use cloves.

Everyone loves this recipe! I added some fresh garlic cloves in with the onion. You can use any flavor of sauce, as we don't like mushrooms. Very simple and easy to make.

Aunt Teen's Creamy Chocolate Fudge

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2009
WOW! This is so rich, just like fudge should be. I bought the brand name marshmallow creme and had all my ingridients ready to go as previously suggested. I did not add nuts because I do not care for them and it turned out wonderful.

The Whole Jar of Peanut Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2009
These were wonderful. I accidentally bought crunchy peanut butter and so I cut back a little on the peanuts. I did bake them the full time because I like my cookies crunchy and not chewy. I has a hard time making the fork marks because the fork keep sticking to the dough, I even sprayed it with Pam. Depsite the lack of fork marks, it was still very tasty.

Award Winning Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2009
I added 2t baking powder, 1/2t salt and 2T od vanilla as suggested and they turned out wonderful. They were chewy inside with a great crunch on the outside. This is much better than the homemade recipe on the back of the Nestle tollhouse chocolate chip bag.

Jamie's Cranberry Spinach Salad

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2009
This is a wonderful refreshing salad. I followed the other suggestions: substituted Craisins for the cranberries and I toasted the seasame seeds and almonds for about 10 minutes at 350. I omittted the poppy seeds altogether, not sure if it would add any extra taste or not. The seasame seeds did add a good touch so I suggest not to omit them.

This is a really great recipe! All of my children love it. I didn't have to change a thing. It takes a while to fix. I have to plan ahead if I want to make it, I can't wait til the last minute to whip this up. It is worth it though. You can use the sauce for noodles or other italian recipes.

Gobble Up Granola Snacks

Reviewed: May 9, 2008
I substituted honey for corn syrup. They did taste pretty good but something was missing. They fell apart and were very messy. I added more peanut butter and honey to try to get it to stick together. Then it had too much honey flavor. Maybe I should cook it a little longer to make it crispier.

Apple Yogurt Pancakes

Reviewed: May 8, 2008
I am trying to find healthy breakfast options for my children and myself. This is difficult because I like sweets. I loved the pancakes after my modifications. I added just enough sugar to give it a little bit of sweetness but not overwhelming. My children liked these pancakes very much! Here are my substitutions: I used 1 ¼ cup WHEAT FLOUR + 1 ¼ cup ALL PURPOSE FLOUR; added 2 tablespoons of SPLENDA; APPLESAUCE instead of OIL; used SKIM MILK, LOW FAT YOGURT; I SHREDDED the APPLES and to make sure they ended up FLUFFY, I let the DOUGH SIT in the refrigerator for 30 minutes. These are good cold or for next day also.

Cathy's Banana Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 5, 2006
This was a great recipe! It was very moist and tasty. I did use 2 cups mashed bananas and 1/2 cup brown sugar, 1/2 cup white sugar.I baked it in a bundt pan and coated it with cinammon sugar. The cinnamon sugar burned a little bit but it was because I cooked it a little too long. I should have cooked it for about 40 minutes, but it was still good.

Vanilla - Chocolate Powdered Sugar Frosting

Reviewed: Mar. 17, 2004
This was a great recipe. I didn't have any milk and I too used coffee creamer (French Vanilla). I was a little skeptical at first but it turned out great. It was very fluffy. I only added 1 tablespoon of the creamer. I think that might be the key between the fluffy vs pudding consistency; use less liquid for fluffy. When I was making it, there didn't seem to be enough of it, but I used it to frost about 24 cookies generously, more than I thought. I also used green food coloring. This is a good basic, sweet frosting recipe.
