My favorite family cooking traditions
Many things passed down from my Momma, who is in heaven now! Thought I'd remmeber it all ... wish I had written down more. Have perfected some of her recipes. I find myself doing what I always accused her of... not using exact measurements and doing it my way!!

Apricot and Peach Fried Pies
My Mom, who is gone now, made these for as long as I can remember... but the one thing special about hers and everyone she ever fixed them for agreed, was frying them in butter in an iron skillet. Superb addition... if you have never tried this, you really should. Sprinkle both sides with sugar and double stack on plate. A bit tricker in order not to burn but Oh My ... the end result is sooooo worth it!!!! I would suggest if you try this and are making quite a few you may have to wipe your skillet out every so often. Butter frying is amazing!!

Mrs. Sigg's Snickerdoodles
Made these tonite.. They were puffier than I remember my Momma's. Any suggestions for a flat, chewy cookie. These were chewy, but puffy, which I didn't like. I might add: cooked at 375 for 8 min. used 2 Tbs. sugar 1Tbs. cinnamon

Cheese Ring
2 bags 12 oz. cheddar, 1 mild, 1 sharp, 1 c. mayo., 1 tsp. cayenne, 6 pieces crumbled bacon, 5-6 green onions including green part, mix together, spread in quiche dish, top with 1 c. finely chopped pecans, serve with baked ritz crisp and seedless strawberry jam. rave reviews always. some prefer it w/o jam perfect salty, sweet, savory combo.
