Lime Gelatin Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 21, 2013
This is a great recipe - it makes a lot! I used sugar free jello and it came out great. Otherwise, I followed the recipe exactly. It was suggested to use cool whip instead of whipping cream. Next time I will try that - to lighten it up a bit. Although it is sinfully delicious as is. I will make this salad for the next potluck or cook out.

Carrot Pineapple Cake I

Reviewed: May 30, 2013
We love this recipe - improvised and made 12 little cupcakes and one 9x9 pan because some of the children cannot have nuts. It worked! Also made the 9x13. Otherwise, I followed the recipe to a "T" and it is wonderful.

Alyson's Broccoli Salad

Reviewed: May 2, 2013
Loved this recipe! Finally found one we like. I am an avid reader of reviews because they give me the confidence to make slight changes. And I love this site and the participants! We are having a buffet for a crowd so am trying different salad recipes. I omitted the raisins and onion and as a reader suggested, we used white vinegar since we did not have "white wine" It was still great. My husband who is not a salad person said "this one is a keepr". That says alot everybody!!!!

Bacon Wrapped Smokies

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2013
These are always a hit. I suggest you do the bacon wrap ahead of time because it can get time consuming (and a bit messy). It is good if you measure one piece of bacon and then cut all of your bacon ahead of time. Keep the bacon cold (definitely). I wrap them early in the day and keep them on a tray in the refrigerator. Then you just pop them into the over. They are worth the effort - always a favorite! I love all of the suggestions made in the reviews. I will try a few of them also. :)

Swiss Steak

Reviewed: Apr. 21, 2013
Added a few steps - chicken-fried the steak (had better luck with the coating) put in a 9x13 baking pan, added the peppers, tomatoes and onion, covered and baked at 350 for approximately one hour. Tender!

Whipped Cream Cream Cheese Frosting

Reviewed: Mar. 30, 2013
This is the taste in frosting I was always looking for - I followed the recipe to the exact measurements and am very pleased with the taste. I would like it to be firmer. Otherwise, it is a great recipe. For now I will keep the cake (or whatever) refrigerated until just before serving. I will try some of the suggestions from the reviews.

Pudding Breeze

Reviewed: Mar. 16, 2013
One of the all time favorites - I am happy to find out that it can be made with other flavor of puddings. We only used the chocolate pudding and will be excited to try other flavors. One of the grandchildren's favorites at any gathering. Thank you for the idea!

Bean Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2012
This is an excellent recipe - I added bits of bacon in addition to the ham (if it is handy). This is the first time I tried a recipe with veggies. Also and since my family likes the thicker soup I add the water, boil them down, add the water and boil them down the second time. A favorite at our house.

Beef Tostadas

Reviewed: Nov. 13, 2011
One thing I did differently is to spread the corn tortilla first with refried beans and then add the toppings. Tasty!

Triple Dipped Fried Chicken

Reviewed: Nov. 13, 2011
Absolutely a great recipe as is. I did one thing differently and it was good. I first dipped it in milk and then the dry mix.

Mom's Country Gravy

Reviewed: Sep. 29, 2011
This is one of my mom's favorite recipes (called it milk gravy) but used bacon grease instead of oil. She said to cook it for about ten to fifteen minutes after you add the milk to make certain the flour is "cooked" and stir consantly.
