Glazed Salmon

Reviewed: Mar. 10, 2011
The whole family loved this recipe -- the 9 year old, 14 year old, and 35 year old! Like other reviewers, I also switched out the Molasses for pure maple syrup, which I think was a very good choice.

These are perfect...when using butter instead of shortening. Thanks for the great recipe and the great tips.

Dora's Christmas Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2010
We made these cookies in a class at the senior community that I work at with much hesitations, "six cups of flour? We'll never be able to mix it [with arthritic hands]," and "I've never had success with rolled cookies." But guess what...we had success and everybody walked away feeling really good about the outcome! It truly is a perfect recipe for all ages!

Polenta Corn Bake

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2010
Something is missing. Maybe it needs more spices or a different veggie (spinach? yum). What my family and I loved about it is that it's like a lighter version of lasagna. It's tasty and it's easy to make. Personally, I think it's more of an entrée than a side dish, but I'm a vegetarian, so my standards may be a little different.

Elsye's Brownies

Reviewed: Nov. 16, 2010
An 80 year old friend of mine explained that she never made homemade brownies after the invention of boxed brownies because homemade never seemed to turn out as good. I have to agree with her on this sentiment to date. I found this recipe kind of dull - not chocolaty enough and the icing was just sweet. I will continue to search for a perfect homemade brownie none-the-less. It is a super easy recipe (in defense) and likable enough to prepare as a last minute desert.

Pumpkin Gingerbread

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2010
Awesome! Just beautiful and delicious. I made a loaf for a bake sale and was approached by the woman who purchased the loaf days later. She said she'd intended to freeze a 1/2 of the loaf for visiting friends, but couldn't resist eating it prematurely.
