Of ALL my recipes, this pumpkin bread is one of the top of my All-Stars List. It is a solid 5 stars when made just as written, but I throw in a little ground ginger and cloves sometimes when I want more "pumpkin pie" flavor. The secret to turning this bread into a 10 star recipe is to make them ahead of time, wrap well, and put them in the freezer for a few days to let the flavors develop and to soften the crust. I easily make a dozen loaves in early November to give out for Christmas--a gift that people still remember and thank me for several months later!
