Playgroup Granola Bars

Reviewed: May 7, 2012
I only bake these for 18-20 minutes, just until the edges start to brown. This way my toddler with just a few teeth can eat them. I also used just a 1/2 c brown sugar and round up the cinnamon to 1tsp, Craisins to 1 c (don't like raisins), salt to 1tsp. Just simpler this way. They have become a staple food item in our house! We experiment with adding chocolate chips, flax seed, etc. Hard to mess up!

Can't beat this one pot, one pan recipe. Works best baked in a muffin pan.

Jay's Signature Pizza Crust

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2012
It took me 3 tries to get this right. I had no idea how long to knead, so after it only rising slightly the first two times i kneaded by hand, I finally just set my kitchenaide dough hook on it for several minutes and must have added another cup of flour. Then it almost doubled in size, and tasted MUCH better. I also added some onion powder and garlic powder. I baked it in a 14" cake pan for 15 minutes before adding toppings. Good bye papa john's!

McCormick® Vanilla Rich Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2011
These turned out REALLY flat. I double checked and I definitely used the exact ingredients and measurements. The flavor is good, however the recipe needs some doctoring.

Slow Cooker BBQ Flat Iron Steak Sandwiches

Reviewed: Nov. 18, 2011
I came across a flat iron steak for cheap at the store and figured I'd find a way to cook it. This recipe surprised me. It had a different flavor and was easy to prepare. Instead of dried onion I added half a medium chopped onion. Not sure about using this on a sandwich since it was pretty "wet" in the crock pot. I served it over mashed potatoes with a side of green beans. Will definitely make again!

Pear Preserves Cake

Pretty unremarkable. Has a good texture, but the flavors don't stand out at all, other than sweetness from the icing. Will not make again.

Cocktail Meatballs

Delish! ground turkey is better than beef in this recipe. it's less greasy and not swimming in fat. can't tell it's "turkey"

Spooky Witches' Fingers

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2010
some lemon zest really goes a long way in enhancing the flavor of these cookies! i doubled the recipe and used zest of three lemons. added a 1/2 tsp more salt. raspberry jam for blood is a perfect compliment to the almond/lemon flavor.

Flourless Peanut Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Aug. 24, 2010
good basic recipe. for perfection, use natural peanut butter - it actually tastes like peanuts unlike the sugar laden popular brands. like others, i did 50/50 white/brown sugar, added some vanilla, and also a little salt to bring out the flavors. yum! update: after making four varying recipes of this today, i've noticed that texture is key. the first batch (as the recipe states) was just crumbs that had to be compressed to make a cookie. adding the vanilla really helps make it more like a "batter" and they look more like cookies.
