My kitchen is my sanctuary, but I don't want to spend all of my time there. I like to make large batches of foods that keep well for leftovers. This way, I cook 2 or 3 times per week, saving money, time, and electricity.
My favorite things to cook
My specialties are soups and breads, things that warm the whole house on a chilly day and fill the air with an irresistable aroma. I also like to take a recipe and tweak it, making one recipe the basis for five or so variations.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I like to have my son (he's 6 now) cook with me, just like my mother let me cook with her when I was little. He is more interested in actually eating the food when he has a hand in preparing it.
I also love to have people over for dinner on a regular basis. I feel that it is the best way to socialize.
