Bananas Foster II

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2014
Very tasty. Make sure just to warm the bananas. Any longer and they are too mushy.

Danish Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2014
Delicious! Tasted like oatmeal pecan sandies. Followed other reviewers and chilled the dough for 30 mins prior to rolling into marble-sized balls. I'm not sure it made a difference but the cookies weren't as flat as I expected them to be. Cooked for 15 mins. Next time I'll double the recipe. Oh, and I used 1/2 cup pecans instead of the full cup. I think that was a good call. Will definitely make again.

Southern Fried Cabbage

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2014
Delicious! I followed the other suggestions and didn't use oil and cooked double the bacon. Removed the bacon from the pot when it was done cooking. I took just a bit of the bacon grease and sautéed the onions for just a bit. Meanwhile, cooked the cabbage for a few minutes, added the onions in and other ingredients. When nearly done, crumbled the bacon into the cabbage mix. Made some black-eyed peas to go along side. Seriously delicious.

Hudson's Baked Tilapia with Dill Sauce

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2013
We've made this recipe several times and love it. We usually make about 1/2 the recipe for the dill sauce.

Cream Cheese Cookies III

Reviewed: Oct. 7, 2013
After reading the prior reviews, I made the following changes: added a container of raspberries to the top layer of crust, prior to baking 12 mins. I wanted to try blueberries (per another review) but they're not in season- next time. I added 1/3 cup of sugar (instead of 1/4 cup) to the cream cheese mix and 3 tsp of lime juice (instead of 1 tsp lemon juice). Baked in a 8x8 square dish. This recipe turned out wonderful. But I can't imagine not adding some type of fruit as a middle layer. I don't like things super sweet so this was perfect for me. I look forward to having it with coffee.

Made this one several times. A few times added chopped rotisserie chicken at the end of cooking. Always add a dollop of sour cream to each serving. Delicious!

Mom's Zucchini Bread

Reviewed: May 2, 2013
Used 1/2 white/brown sugar and pecans instead of walnuts. I think next time I'll use more zucchini otherwise, I'll definitely make this one again!

Best Baked Chicken

Reviewed: Apr. 30, 2013
I've made this twice now (because what doesn't deserve a second chance, right?) and it still came out just ok. Not super moist and just... kinda blah. No modifications. Think I'll stick with my chick parmesan recipe.

Baked Pork Chops I

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2012
Sauteed diced fresh mushrooms, then added the rest of the sauce ingredients to the pan and added a dollop of sour cream. Doubled the sauce since I also made mashed potatoes. Brown the chops well and cook for 45 mins then 30 mins with the sauce. Rich but very very good!

Pumpkin Crunch Cake

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2012
I've been making this recipe for years and LOVE it. This is a great alternative to pumpkin pie. After reading these reviews, I will try using butter instead of margrine and less salt. Otherwise, it's great as written.

Taco Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2012
I followed a few of the suggestions- first layer the cooked cresent rolls, then black refried beans, then the meat mixure (I had added onion, garlic and corn to the meat), followed with sour cream, mexican cheese and crumbled nacho cheese Dorito's on top. I think the Dorito's offset the "sweetness" of the cresent rolls. I was concerned about this recipe but.... MY FAMILY LOVED IT! Definitely want it added to the rotation. Thanks everyone for the suggestions.

Super Sausage Gravy

Reviewed: Oct. 7, 2012
Really tasty! I added some garlic salt and used a bit more milk. We like a lot of sausage so the ratio was fine. The only other thing I did, which I did not read anyone else do, was to drain about 1/2 the grease. Very good and will make again!

Very delicous dish! I was skeptical but it really is fantastic. A few modifications- i added chopped green pepper and garlie to the meat mixture and only used a 1/4 cup of brown sugar. Really a great dish!

Spaghetti Squash I

Reviewed: Feb. 20, 2012
I thought it was really tasty. I agreed with the other posters in that the squash needs to bake at least 40 mins. or longer. I used olive oil instead of vegetable oil, added the stewed tomatoes and added mushrooms and zucchini. I also added more seasonings to ensure it wasn't bland. I was happy with the outcome!
