I hail originally from North Carolina, born and raised Southern Gal. I grew up in a big family with four other siblings. My mom has always been an excellent cook and unfortunately I never took the opportunity to learn from her while at home. once I got married I learned from my French husband who is a fabulous cook. I am learning every day and enjoy my culinary adventures!
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake cakes and desserts. Because I'm health-conscious, I try to tweak these recipes to be just a tad healthier.
My specialty is my pizza crust and sauce which I've been making since I was 10 years old. I love my pizzas and personally think they are the some of the best I've ever eaten.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Friday night pizza night! As a family we would make pizza together (thus the lengthy pizza crust experience). Afterward we'd have ice cream sundaes and watch a classic movies.
My other favorite would be Sunday afternoon lunch. My mom would always make a scrumptious spread after church, including homemade bread. We'd all sit at the table and enjoy, then spend a few hours just talking over coffee.
My cooking triumphs
My mom and I made a multi-layer gourmet chocolate cake with an intricate caramelized sugar crusted top layer. It was tedious and time-consuming but OH so worth it. It turned out beautifully!
