Mini Chai Spice Cupcakes on Kimono
My Mini Chai Spice Cupcakes
About this Cook
I'm 22 years old and I guess I'm just starting to learn to cook! I have made things from Asian curry to pumpkin pie before but I'm still really slow to learn. Having a site like this helps SO much instead of just "Joy of Cooking" the book, it's what I started with!
My favorite things to cook
I've always loved to bake sweets to share and give away as gifts (ever since I was a child). I'm going to start experimenting with meringues soon, inspired by this site. I'm just getting into teas too, I've never liked them before.
My favorite family cooking traditions
We don't really have any, other than Thanksgiving. I think this year we might have a better alternative to my dad's cranberry relish from this site... we'll see!
My cooking triumphs
Trying vegan foods with my vegan friend. There are some delicious foods out there with soy that lead me into trying Asian/Indian cuisine. Very delicious and it's getting easier (yeah right!) to cook with spices now, haha.
My cooking tragedies
My mother's food dehydrator is the worst piece of junk! I would love to try to cook with dehydrated foods (like making fruit roll-ups from corn starch and dehydrated fruit, then dehydrating it again) but it's ridiculous what she does with that buzzing fan thing haha. The one she has in person is cheap.

Butterscotch Oatmeal
This oatmeal is so creamy-delicious! I found that the egg will cook wrong if you don't keep it stirring really consistently. The recipe says to boil, but when mine boils the egg makes little chunks despite stirring, you have to stir on a lower heat for longer to get the creamy consistency. I don't know what happened or I did wrong those two times but it just came out bad! Keep the heat just below medium and STIR is all I found.

Chai Tea Mix
My father loves this tea SO MUCH that we have to keep it in a huge 44 oz. screw-top container. It's AWESOME. We just keep going through it over again! If you enjoy tea that is either chai or milked tea, try this recipe at least once because it's instant tea and addictively convenient. If you mix 1/2 boiling water in the glass with the mix then add 1/2 milk and froth it up with an electric wisker it will taste just like Dunkin Donuts Vanilla Chai I swear it does. It is SO YUMMY!

Vegetable Lo Mein
I LOVE this recipe! We make it with a bag of frozen salad shrimp and it goes perfectly! Just toss the heated/thawed shrimp in with the pasta and it's delicious! I've already made it twice and am buying ingredients for a third time... the leftovers are awesome!!
