Spicy Corn Muffins

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2011
These turned out great! Moist and flavorful! I used a 9x9 baking pan instead of muffin tins. This goes great with a hearty winter soup like Creamy Tomato Basil Soup or Potato Bacon Soup.

Dutch Babies II

Reviewed: Sep. 10, 2011
I have made this recipe for my kids every Sunday morning for the past 20 years. The way I make it is: 2 eggs 1/2 cup flour 1/2 milk 1 tsp suger Whip in blender. Melt 2 TBS butter in each of two 9" pie plates in oven as it warms to 400 degrees. Once the butter starts to brown, take pie plates out and swirl butter around the sides. Evenly divide batter between the two pans and bake @ 400 degress until dark gold and crispy on edges and very puffy. This way you have two seperate, individual servings. Top with canned cherry pie filling and powdered suger. Always a hit!

Jif® Peanut Butter and Jelly Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2011
These turned out excellent! I used crunchy peanut butter instead of creamy, which added a little extra crunch to the cookies. I used a 1" cookie scoop for uniform shape and size and rolled the balls in cinnamon sugar! YUM! My family ate them as fast as they cooled!

Spotted Dog Irish Bread

Reviewed: Mar. 17, 2012
I tried this recipe after being disappointed with most Irish Soda Bread Recipes and was pleasantly surprised! The recipe was extremely easy! The bread is slightly dense but has an amazing flavor, especially buttered with real butter! I followed the recipes exactly; did not soak the raisins first, and it came out perfect - not dry at all. I did brush a little milk on the top before baking and butter after baking to create a softer, golden crust. I used my Kitchenaide to mix the batter quickly without over mixing. Baking time was approximately 50 minutes. I am impressed and will definitely use this recipe instead of the dry traditional recipes!

Snickerdoodles I

Reviewed: Apr. 29, 2012
Excellent! I was worried because the dough was pretty hard and crumbley but I used my cookie scoop and packed the balls tightly, rolled in cinnamon suger and baked - WOW! Soft & Delicious! I wouldn't change a thing in this recipe!

Conchas (Mexican Sweet Bread)

Reviewed: May 5, 2012
These turned out good; however, the topping never resembled "a thick paste". I think you should divide the vanilla between the two topping bowls to make the dough stick together better. The cinnamon topping was dry and crumbly...

Traditional Sauerbraten

Reviewed: Sep. 16, 2012
I cooked this in the crock pot all day (8 hours - 6 lbs) after marinating it for 5 days. WOW! Excellent falvor! I have made this in the past and it turned out tough - the crockpot is the way to go! Made the gravy with Nabisco Ginger Snaps - A real hit at our German themed dinner party. I also served spatsel, red cabbage, mashed potatoes and sourdough rolls with Lingonberry jam. Excellent!

English Muffin Loaves

Reviewed: Sep. 16, 2012
I only used 4 1/4 cups flour. I think I may have let this rise a little too much as there was a large air bubble under the top crust; however, the rest of the loaf had nice air bubbles in it. The flavor is excellent! Toasted is best!

BBQ Pork for Sandwiches

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2012
I used pork loin roast because that was all that the store had; 4.8 lbs. Lined the bottom of the crockpot with sliced yellow onion, rubbed the outside of the roast with black pepper and Stubbs BBQ Rub. Placed the roast on the onion and poured two cans of beer around the edges. Cooked on low for 7.5 hours. Took it out, shredded it with two forks; it just fell apart. I put in in a large freezer container and added two bottles of Stubb's Spicy BBQ Sauce, covered and put in the fridge for lunch later. My husband wouldn't stop picking at it while I was preparing it! He loves it! I will bake up portions as we need them as there are only two of us. Turned out AMAZING!

Cream Cheese Bars I

Reviewed: Oct. 6, 2012
I followed the recipe for the bottom crust and the topping but added a 1/2 tsp almond extract to the bottom layer, topped that layer with a bag of chocolate chips and about a cup of raspberry baking chips (Amazon.com), then add a 1/2 tsp vanilla to the top layer. After baking, I sprinkled chocolate chips on the top; once cooled completely, I drizzled raspberry flavored powdered suger glaze over the top - AMAZING! I thought the recipe sounded bland so I jazzed it up a bit. The husband and kids gobbled them up!

INCREDIBLE Raspberry Cheesecake Cookies

This recipe is great - just don't use fat free cream cheese! The cookies flatten out and are mushy in the middle. When I used regular cream cheese, they came out perfect!

Simple Scones

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2014
Excellent recipe! Don't over mix though. The scones are light and fluffy. I added almond extract and orange extract along with Cherry Craisins. I brushed the tops with milk and sprinkled raw sugar crystals on top; no need for frosting of any kind. The scones were devoured immediately!
