Sesame Pasta Chicken Salad

I made this for dinner yesterday and my husband and I couldn't quit eating it, the dressing is so yummy! I woke up this morning wondering if it would be good for breakfast. I followed the recipe exactly other than cutting the oil to 1/3 cup and adding some fresh veggies, per some of the other reviewers.

Bacon Ranch Chicken Skewers

These were amazing. I made my own ranch using the packets, and didn't have any hot chile paste so I just poured Sriracha hot chile sauce into the ranch. The homeade ranch is thicker, so the sauce didn't thin it too much. Watching the video was really helpful in assembling these! My husband and I ate these for dinner, and then ate them cold for breakfast. Don't judge me till you've tried them, they're that good!

Hot Corn Dip

I made this recipe without any changes because the other reviews varied so much I thought it best to taste it as is before making changes. First of all, I love cilantro, but it is what's known as a "soft herb" and heat kills the taste. If you like cilantro, adding it close to the end of or after baking will increase the flavor. As far as the difference of opinion on rotel vs. salsa and hot or mild, that's simply a matter of taste. My mother would love this recipe as is, I thought it a little bland. Over all, I think it's a decent basic recipe that could be tweaked to your own taste. I will make it again, but next time, I will take other reviewers advice about adding cumin, spicy salsa, garlic and cheddar cheese to make it more flavorful.

Grandma Gudgel's Black Bottom Cupcakes

I changed the cocoa to 1/3 cup, added 1 tsp vanilla to filling, and cooked for 20 minutes per other reviewers. These were okay, didn't really think they were that special, though. Didn't have the "wow" factor that I was expecting.

Chocolate Trifle

Beat 1/2 c whipping cream till soft peaks formed and folded that into the chocolate pudding instead of cool whip, thanks to the advice of many other reviewers. Also drizzled a little caramel ice cream topping in between chocolate mousse layer and cool whip layer. I thought everyone at the party that I took this to were going to lick their bowls! Took the tiny bit that was left over to a couple of the girls at work and their eyes rolled back in their heads at the first bite. I used a fudgy brownie mix with chocolate chunks in it. The combination of that, the amazing chocolate mousse, caramel, and cool whip were enough. I think any other additions of candy bars, toffee, etc. would have been too many flavors competing with each other. I did garnish the top with chocolate curls and received many compliments about how pretty this was. This is my new go to dessert for anything to which I have to bring a dish and want to impress. Made the brownies and put the mixer bowl and beaters for the cream in freezer the night before, threw this together in about 20 minutes the next morning.

Sweet and Spicy Almonds

Just made these as a Christmas gift for a Korean guy at work who loves the habanero bbq spiced almonds you can buy at the grocery store. I doubled the cayenne (the man eats jalepenos on his sandwiches) and accidentally used 2 tsp of salt rather than the 11/2 called for. After they cooled, I sampled a few and couldn't stop. Let's just say that it's a good thing I bought a big bag of almonds at Sam's! They are wonderful, I considered trying Chipotle Chili powder for the cayenne as a change, but why mess with perfection?

Balsamic Marinated Chicken Breasts

My husband likes dark meat, so I was looking for a marinade for the legs and thighs I was grilling for dinner. I made this exactly like the recipe, other than swapping out fresh rosemary and oregano just because they are growing on my back deck. Marinated chicken for about 2 hours and threw it on the grill. I don't like dark meat chicken, but I could have eaten the skin off of the whole 2 lbs of chicken! It was crispy and tasted glazed, so yummy. The meat was super juicy, my husband ate some cold for breakfast this morning. This will be my go to chicken marinade from now on.

Chicken Pesto Paninis

Love these. I make homeade foccacia bread from this site and my own pesto, so I almost have everything on hand for these! I use rotisserie chicken and followed recipe exactly the first time, they were yummy. Now a regular feature at our house. A friend at work brought her panini grill to work and we even make them there now! We keep the foccacia bread, pesto, and rotisserie chicken every time, but change up the types of cheese and veggies. Great recipe!

Soft Sugar Cookies IV

I very rarely eat sweets as I don't like very sweet things, but there is just something about the Lofthouse cookies that I can't resist. I have been known to eat 1/2 the package before reaching the registers! These are better. Holy Toledo, make these cookies! Per other reviews, substituted 1 tsp of the vanilla with almond, cookie scooped onto pan, pushed down about halfway with colored sugar dipped glass bottom. Baked 10 minutes, removed to rack after about a minute so they would not continue cooking or dry out on hot sheet pan. Perfect! I'm using pastel sugar and taking to a baby shower and then doing again for Easter because they're so pretty as well as yummy :)

Day Before Mashed Potatoes

I have been making these potatoes since first finding the recipe here about 5 years ago, just now getting aorund to rating it. These are our go to mashed potatoes for every holiday, potluck, and get together. There are never any left and I've given out the recipe many times. I make them just as suggested other than adjusting the cream cheese, sour cream and seasonings as the potato size and type make a difference every time. Sometimes I add roasted garlic, but they are wonderful as is. Thanks for the great recipe, these are so good we hate to put gravy on them!

Made these several times as written, very good but fell apart. Finally took other reviewers advice and left out the egg and onion. Still delicate on grill, but held together with some care. I liked them with the egg until I made them without, much better without!

RWOP Finalist: Breakfast Empanadas with Chipotle Cream

Holy cow, these are good! I didn't make any changes, and the only one I would make in the future would be to cut back the chipotles in the cream to only one if taking for a group or if you don't like really spicy food. I can eat the hottest sauce at our local wing joint, so I quite liked it as written. It was my turn to bring breakfast for our small group class this morning, and some of the members were fanning their mouths and running for drinks! These were so good, though, they continued to eat them :) They were a bit time consuming to make, and there was probably enough filling for 2 cans of biscuits, but a yummy, unique recipe!

Made this exactly as written using taco flavored tortilla chips. My husband, 17 year old, and myself couldn't stop eating it. It tasted llike something that took more effort and more ingredients than it actually does. Great, easy recipe!

Creamy Chipotle Chicken

Made exactly as written other than doubling recipe and adding portabello mushrooms, and used one can of cream of chicken and one of cream of mushroom. Aerved over brown rice. 18 year old daughter, myself, and husband really liked this. I couldn't believe how moist and flavorful the chicken was! I doubled the recipe in the hopes it would be good so I can freeze some of it for later meals, glad I did!

Restaurant-Style Buffalo Chicken Wings

Made them exactly as written and wouldn't change a thing other than the frying part. Made a huge mess! I'm going to try baking them next time per some other reviewer's suggestions. I must say, though, if they're not as good as the fried ones....I would totally make them again and clean it up. Yummy!
