About this Cook
I'm a newlywed Navy Wife who has been cooking since I was a little girl. All the women in my family are great cooks, and so are most of the men. Most of my recipes are passed down from several generations. I love cooking cakes and breads to give as holiday gifts to my friends and family. I am expecting a little girl of my own in September and can't wait until she's old enough to cook and bake with just like my mom did with me!
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook anything Italian, and I also am a great Southern-style cook as well. My husband loves everything I make. My dishes are highly flavorful and never bland. My steaks never need steak sauce. Salt and pepper never needs to be added after presentation. I love to bake desserts most of all. My dinners are great but my desserts are amazing. I like to tweak recipes to give each one my own personal flair.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I love cooking with my family. As a child I used to make Christmas goodie bags with my mom with cookies, candies, cakes, and breads. She always let me help with her famous cheese ball every year as well. I learned to cook simple dishes at a very young age with my father helping me, and I also baked a lot with my grandmothers and my aunt.
My cooking triumphs
Re-creating my mom's amazing lasagna to a perfect match, When my first cobblers made my husband fall in love with me, When my first Thanksgiving ham turned out just perfect, and the time I made steaks for my dad that were so good he bragged on me to his friends at work. Most recently I tried a new biscuit recipe that I was nervous about (Making good biscuits is an art, and Southern folks take it seriously) and it turned out beautifully.
My cooking tragedies
The time I tried to make hot-cross buns and they turned out like hot-cross rocks instead, and the first time I made deviled eggs and the bag I tried to pipe out the filling with burst all over me and the eggs. (the filling was delicious though) The worst time was when my husband and I tried to make profiteroles together for guests and no one wanted them because they looked weird. They didn't turn out anything like we had planned!

Bolognese Stuffed Bell Peppers
I love this. I tweaked the recipe slightly by adding onion and garlic and omitting the red pepper and heavy cream. This recipe is very versatile and you can really do anything with it. My husband loved it too!

Peach and Pineapple Sorbet
This is great in a bowl with one scoop of sorbet and one scoop of vanilla ice cream. I plan to try this with a raspberry sauce on top next.
