Delicious Beef Tongue Tacos

Reviewed: Jan. 31, 2013
Really love this recipie. I just don't tell the kids. We told them what it was after the first time I made it and they had eaten it, mind you they were saying yum the whole time. They said they would never eat it again. So, now I make it and don't tell them. I just say we are having beef tacos and they come running. It is super delicious. If you have never "worked" with tongue before, get over the boiling/peeling part. If you can rip the skin off a chicken and cut it up, you can deal with the tongue. It is the best meat, and this is the best recipe!

Slow Cooker Lemon Garlic Chicken II

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2012
Very yummy. Doubled everything. Ended up adding about two cups of the water from the pasta I was making, just to have more sauce. I didn't have fresh parsley, so I used dried. Fresh would have been much better though. I'll definitely be making this again.

Pumpkin Pie Coffee Cake

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2012
This turned out like pumpkin pie filing on a short bread or cookie crust. I baked it in a 9x13 stoneware pan. The knife didn't come out clean at thirty five minutes for me, so another fifteen minutes and it was fine. Personally I liked this at room temp (like pumpkin pie) rather than warm out of the oven.. It was yummy.

Gobi Aloo (Indian Style Cauliflower with Potatoes)

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2012
I often make Indian food. We eat it almost once a week. This is an excellent recipe. It is supposed to be a dry curry. This recipe is a good base if you want to change it a bit also. I have doubled all the ingredients, added thinly sliced carrots and onion at the same time as the potato. Then I threw in some left over peas, from dinner the night before. It was fabulous! So, make this as shown the first time around, then have fun playing around with it. Again, A very good recipe!

Just like the recipe I was given years ago. Occasionally have to thin with a little milk. Very easy in the slow cooker. Just add all with the cooker set on low....stir occasionally. yum yum

Foolproof Rib Roast

Reviewed: Aug. 4, 2012
This is how my grandmother ALWAYS made her prime rib. She would cut slits in the roast, stuff them with slivers of fresh garlic and then would sear it all over in oil. She would then" season and roast" as the recipe states. I don't think the searing part was necessary because following the recipe above as is written creates a lovely outside texture, but you didn't mess with grandma! Her roasts always came out fabulous. I used to have this recipe just memorized, but then didn't make it for such a long time I forgot the basics. So thank you for posting it on the sight.

Apfelkuchen (Apple Cake)

Reviewed: Jul. 25, 2012
This was delicious and not hard to make at all. It was humid the day I made this. The dough seemed way to sticky with the amount of flour called for in the dough part of the recipie. I hate altering recipies on my first try, but like I said, it was so muggy and we make a lot of our own bread so I know how that can effect dough. I did end up adding about one cup more flour. This gave me a slightly sticky, but smooth looking dough. I had to flour my finger tips to push it up the sides of the pan. The result, regardless of the flour issue, was so so good. It formed a soft, very thin layer between the apples and dough that was almost cheese danish like..but not doughy or under baked. My family loved it and I will positively make it again!

This is how tuna salad is supposed to be. If you want fancy'schmancy then go make up your own recipe and leave this one alone! Thank you Grandma Wells. Did you happen to know my Great Grandma Snopl? Her tuna salad tasted remarkably similar to yours! Yum!

Scalloped Potatoes and Hamburger

Reviewed: May 4, 2012
This a great basic recipie. If you switch out one cream of soup for the mushroom because that is what you have it's no big deal. This is also a fun recipie to "jazz up" if you want. Season up the meat a bit more (added garlic powder, dried minced onion, and one half of a fresh lemons juice), and/or add cheese or different spices (I dusted each layer with Lawreys seasoned salt and dried parsley) inbetween the layers. Add a second cheese to blend with the suggested one on the last top layer...whatever. (FYI. I used sharp chedder through out and then sharp with left over feta on top). Point is, the recipe given easy and good even if you don't mess with it. Thanks!
