Our family LOVES THIS recipe. We used butter flavored shortening for added flavor. Recently we have been substituting buttermilk for the milk and....WOW!!! We brush melted butter on the tops once they're out of the oven. I have to keep guard so they aren't stolen before the meal! We never knead it and just gently pay it out for extra tender biscuits--I make the dough before I start on the gravy (or whatever you're eating) an let the baking powder work it a magic before I bake them
