I am a 73 year young widow. I have four dogs and live in the country and love it as I grew up as a city girl.
My favorite things to cook
I love cooking all types of food. I try at least onw new recipie each week and have several people to critique the finished dishes. I make organic dog treats and have several dogs (besides my own) to taste test them.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Stollen bread for Christmas morning. Pork roast with sauerkraut, apples, onions and carraway seeds for New Years Day (this is supposed to clean out your system for the new year). Black eyed peas and collard greens on New Years Day for health and wealth in the coming years.
My cooking triumphs
My white chilli, spinach and mushroom lasagna, pepper jelly, fancy cakes.
My cooking tragedies
The first chicken I cooked (fried) (in 1956) was like rubber. My husband informed me it was a roasting chicken and not a fryer. I asked what he meant and said "a chicken is chicken" and he said no they were not.
