The reasons I love to cook
About this Cook
I grew up with a mom who made everything from scratch and didn't hesitate to teach me when I wanted to learn. I am now passing that knowledge to my daughters so that cooking healthy meals does not become a lost art.
My favorite things to cook
I love hearty and filling meals that satisfy both the vegetarians and meat eaters in my house.
My favorite family cooking traditions
There is nothing better than gathering generations of family and making homemade sauerkraut and polish sausage. We have a recipe box that all of the women in the family have copies of. (Some of the recipes are over 100 years old!)

Black Bean Hummus
Didn't care for this at all, maybe I'm not a hummus person, but it was so bland! It is far easier to whip up the onion soup mix/sour cream dip and just use fat free sour cream to be healthier.

Easy Baked Chicken Cordon Bleu
Super easy and the kids beg me to make it again! And to think I wasted all that time making it from "scratch" without shortcuts. String cheese in the middle.... genius!

Garbanzo Tomato Pasta Soup
Very good soup. Excellent meal when served with a salad and biscuits or rolls. (I made Cheddar Bay Biscuits). I didn't understand using whole tomatoes just to chop them up, I'm thinking you could probably use a can of diced tomatoes in its place so I might try that next time because chopping up whole canned tomatoes is quite messy.
