Easy Toffee Bars

I also found that boiling the butter and brown sugar for 3 minutes made a big difference. I added 2/3 c. bits o' brickle (toffee bits) to the butter mixture and 1 cup of toasted sliced almonds to the chocolate on top before placing back in the oven. When all the baking is done, I like adding some seasonal sprinkles (the fun shaped not the colored sugar) to the top. I often use dark chocolate chips or milk chocolate chips or a blend of chips; this is a great time to use all those half-empty bags of baking chips.

Chicken Eugene

I make my own mushroom soup, use portabella and shitake mushrooms, and I add a good 1/4 cup of Marsala to the sour cream. I also pound the breasts, and roll the beef inside then wrap the chicken rolls with the bacon. I like to sprinkle the top with smoked paprika before baking and fresh parsley after baking. For presentation to company, I place cooked brown rice in individual au gratin dishes. I like to make a spicy watercress and radiccio salad with a balsamic vinaigrette as a side dish.

If you cannot handle this recipe, turn in your apron and step away from the kitchen! They are delicious and are great as leftovers when re-heated on low!

Cabbage Burgers

I still remember how delicious these were when my aunt would bring them to fields durig wheat havest in western Nebraska with bbq sauce for dipping. These are far superior to the chain restaurant runza-no comparison. Thanks for bringing back a cherished food memory!
