About this Cook
Besides baking and sharing, our Senior Citizens are my most favorite folks...I have the priviledge of sewing our beautiful American Flag. My adoring cat is the only one who will crack a smile when I tell a corny joke. My personal motto is: The cover of a book may be worn and torn, it's the magic inside that awaits us that counts the most. This describes the many unusual people in my life...and I'm very thankful for them!
My favorite things to cook
DESSERTS!!! We're a meat and potato kind of folks, so anything with a homey feel. And anything yummy... Like simple and plain dishes, such as bbq ribs, beef and noodles, fried chicken, brownies with peanut butter frosting, homemade cookies, cakes, etc...
My favorite family cooking traditions
First come, First served!! And seconds are always welcomed here... We also keep a fire extinguisher nearby.(WINK WINK)
My cooking triumphs
Surprisingly, have come up with some very tasty recipes, such as my deluxe scalloped potatoes, fudge, peanut butter icing to name a few.
My cooking tragedies
I have had to "bury" a few bombs, most in unmarked graves. What stinkers they were, but very good lessons on what not to do! LOL

Birdkitty's Peanut Butter Icing
Hi, I'm birdkitty. The recipe should say to store "left over" icing in the refridgerator. Let it come to room temperature before using again, or use a spoon to eat it when it's cold, taste like peanut butter fudge, yum!! Sorry for the mistake, getting older, you know. LOL!!

Soft Oatmeal Cookies
Thank you for sharing this wonderful recipe with us Bittersweet1!!!! I used a cookie scoop & air bake cookie sheets (love 'em). Left them in balls and baked for 10 minutes. (Did not refridgerate dough) they were slightly crispy on the outside, and tender on the inside. Made my husband very happy. Making a double batch in the morning. Will put icing on half of them. Taking some to work, I just know I'm gonna become everyone's best new buddy after they consume these...hehe... Thank you once again! Winks!!! Respectfully, birdkitty
