Award Winning Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2014
I loved this recipe so much I have officially put it in my family cookbook!! The thing I love the most about these cookies is the fact that they don't run out and go flat. They hold their fluffy shape and bake upwards instead of out. I have tried this recipe with so many different combinations of instant puddings and I do believe my favorite one to use is the French Vanilla pudding. Cheesecake is a very close second. Such a great recipe and my son will be using this recipe this year for his 4H drop cookies when he enters them into the fair. I will let you know how he does.

Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough + Cupcake = The BEST Cupcake. Ever.

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2013
I made these for a 4H meeting and I didn't go home with any. I can not put into words how delicious these were. Seriously heaven sent!! I used a spice cake mixture as it was in the fall when I made them. I put chocolate icing on some and cream cheese on the others. Hands down without a doubt the BEST cupcake EVER!!!!

Egg Noodles

Reviewed: Sep. 24, 2012
This was so yummy! Please believe me when I tell you my 5 year old is a picky eater! Last night I made these and he wanted 3rds. YES THIRDS!!! I did not change a thing and it turned out perfectly. Reminds me of the recipe my mom used to do when I was little except it used 5 eggs. Love only using 2 in this one. I think maybe next time I will add a little fresh chopped parsley to the dough before rolling it out and cutting it just for some color! EXCELLENT!!!

Peppermint Patties

Reviewed: Aug. 28, 2012
I truly am not sure what I am doing wrong here. I used peppermint extract and followed the recipe exactly. I found that the consistency was very watered down and thin. I thought hmmm, let me just put in more powdered sugar to make it thicker. I ended up putting another 2 cups in. Still feeling something wasn't right I still went with it. Taking the advice of others I placed in the freezer hoping that it would firm up. It did a little but was still soft to where you could put your finger impression in it. After looking at the bottle of extract I saw it had over 80% alcohol in it so it wasn't going to set up in the freezer. I did like the way it smelled up my house . Maybe with peppermint oil this time. Hmmm very dissapointed. Didn't even get to use my chocolate!

World's Best Lasagna

Reviewed: Aug. 18, 2012
OMG!!! This is absolutely fabulous. If I am making this for supper, our neighbors know! No seriously, the aromas literally can be smelled at my neighbors house! Absolutely one of the best lasagnas I have ever tasted! If I was to own my own restaurant, this would be my recipe of choice! This is probably one of the few recipes when I call supper time, the kids have their hands washed and have their butts parked at the table, before I can get it on the pot holders! Thank you John for a great recipe. It does take some work...but well worth the wait! My husband can never find his push away muscles at the table when its Lasagna night! He always gains a few extra pounds!

Asian Pineapple Sauce

Reviewed: Aug. 18, 2012
I like Pineapple, but don't love it. My husband on the other hand HATES it with a capital H!! I made this and decided I was going to pour it over chicken and green beans. I thought it sounded great! Well I made it exactly as stated in the directions and it turned out beautifully. I did have to cook it longer than stated to get a nice syrup consistancy but other than that it was great. I poured it over my baked chicken and my green beans and MY HUSBAND LOVED IT!!! Y'all don't understand, that is huge in my book!! Great recipe and I will definately be making it again

Blackberry Cobbler

Reviewed: Aug. 18, 2012
I have made this cobbler, many, many times! It is my go to cobbler. This recipe reminds me so much of my momma cobbler I grew up with. I grew up in the south but have made my way west to Oregon and they generally have a lot of mixed berries, so I tried it with a mixture of raspberries, blackberries, blue berries and strawberries. They call it a berry medley here and you can get the bags frozen like that. I followed the recipe exactly as stated except I added more cinnamon (per our families liking). It turns out beautifully everytime. EDIT: I made this for a family reunion this past weekend and made it for a serving of 30. I came home with 1 bowl!! That's all that was left!! Absolutely hands down the BEST cobbler to make. Thank you Trudy for a wonderful recipe! This has become a staple for dessert in our home!

Old Settlers' Baked Beans

Reviewed: Aug. 18, 2012
Without a shadow of a doubt, hands down the BEST baked beans I ever tasted!!! I made these for a family reunion last weekend and make enough for a serving of 30, which I put in a huge aluminum roaster pan for a turkey. We had a 3 hour drive to get to the reunion and when I got there they were still nice and warm. I came home with about 1 quart. I did take the advice of others and instead of using white sugar I used all brown sugar. I also used a sweet and spicy bbq sauce and as per others recommendations, I fried the bacon first and then put it in the meat/onion mixture. I had so many people ask me for my recipe, I didn't have the heart to tell them where I got it. My job is to now bring the beans next year for the reunion. I just felt sorry for the other gal who brought her baked beans. She went home with almost a whole container. Thank You Kathy for sharing this recipe with the world. I will NEVER buy store bought baked beans again. BUSHES HAS NOTHING ON YOU!!!

Double Chocolate Pie

Reviewed: Jun. 27, 2012
Wow, very rich and very indulgent!! I placed my pies in the fridge for 4 hours and although they were good, I would probably just put them in the freezer and take out 15 minutes before serving next time.

Slow Cooker Chicken Taco Soup

Reviewed: Apr. 10, 2012
Absolutely exceptional!!! I personally added another chicken breast just for a little more meat but is wonderful otherwise. I find that you could add a little cajun seasoning instead of taco seasoning and have a nice Cajun style soup as well. When we did the Cajun version we also added sausage and it tasted wonderful. One to try and keep as a backup plan for those days when you aren't exactly sure what you want. Thanks for sharing RaisinKane

Creamy Avocado-Ranch Dip

Reviewed: Jul. 3, 2011
OMG!!! Dare I say sin in a bowl!! I just looked at this recipe and had to try it. You had me at Avocado!! I made it last night to take to a BBQ today and when I licked the spoon I ended up taking a spatula and scraping the bowl. THIS HAS QUICKLY BECOME A FAMILY FAVORITE!!!

Cheddar Bay Biscuits

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2011
Absolutely fabulous. I took the advice of another review and added Old Bay seasoning to the mix and they were absolutely perfect. Only problem I have is when I add the butter mixture to the biscuits after they are cooked, the biscuits tend to want to stick onto the wax paper and I end up pulling the paper off. Other than that...WONDERFUL!! One to add to the recipe book.

Di's Delicious Deluxe Deviled Eggs

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2011
They were ok, but didn't wow me. I actually ended up adding other things to the mix to give them a little kick. I added garden onions in with the celery and I added some spicy brown mustard and some of my home made zucchini relish to the mix. This made it taste way better!

Mouth-Watering Stuffed Mushrooms

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2011
I made these tonight for a family get together. I instead of adding onion powder to the mix like the recipe called for, I added garden onions to the skillet with the garlic and mushroom stems. I didn't add quite as much cayenne pepper, but THEY WERE A HIT!!! They had just the right kick and everyone kept asking "Who made the mushrooms!!" I absolutely recommend this recipe to anyone wanting to change it up a bit.

Sweet Zucchini Relish

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2010
Wow, I made these this morning and I got to taste some of the leftovers from scrapping the pot. I somehow overlooked the onions and forgot to put them in but it still tasted great. I got 11 jelly jars full of relish with this recipe. Putting them in a basket full of home made goodies for Christmas this year. Definately will be one I will make year after year. Except I won't forget the onions next time. Thanks for sharing!!
