About this Cook
I am a single male early 50's having cooked for myself for the past 25 or so years. I am diabetic, with Irritable Bowel Syndrome and osteo-arthritis.
My favorite things to cook
My home-made pasta tomato sauce is an all day cooking event and can even be made vegan style for those that need it that way. Way too yummy for words according to my sister.
My favorite family cooking traditions
French Canadian style, but simple and bland as my father and I are fussy eaters. I have grown up a bit food wise, and am willing to try other things, but still can't have spicy/hot food. His pasta sauce consists of adding tomato juice to his pasta and heating that up.
My cooking triumphs
Making home-made "Poutine" without knowing that it was already named "Poutine" in Quebec.
My cooking tragedies
Making a wonderful mushroom/broccoli dish for a potluck and having someone put it in the oven to warm up and having the broccoli turn dark by absorbing juices from the mushrooms and making it look horrible. I was the only one who ate any. It looked awful!

Meat-Lover's Slow Cooker Spaghetti Sauce
You can also use Yves Veggie Ground Round to make this meatless. I also add diced or sliced mushrooms, celery, diced green peppers, and zucchini. This is so similar to the recipe I have been making for decades that it pretty much is the same, just minus the veggies. I also add bay leaves but remove them when I put the cooked sauce in containers and freeze them for later meals. Can't be a real sauce without garlic being added though.

Bourbon-Mango Pulled Pork
Absolutely fabulous! LOVED it! I used Vancouver Island sea salt as I did not have kosher salt. Big amount for a single person but I froze some for later. YAY for later!!!
