I love vintage stuff, and I like modern stuff. I am eclectic. I love design, Frank Lloyd Wright, Craftsman, Victorian, Retro and Mid Century Modern styles. I love the BoHo style of clothing. I Crochet and Knit, do pottery and love to cook. I recently took up scrapbooking. I am also fanatical and passionate about good food and wine.
My favorite things to cook
I used to love making desserts. This year I have decided to get healthy and and have committed to learning or relearning how to make things that are much better for me. I'm working on reducing the calories in my mushroom risotto right now.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Our family is not real big on traditions. I didn't grow up in a home that really had any, so we have never really done things out of repetition. As a family we used to travel a lot and go places for holidays before I started to work in retail. Since moving to Texas I am looking forward to starting new traditions with my sister and her girls and new friends.
My cooking triumphs
Mastering making Baklava. It has become a family tradition. I recieve requests for it from neighbors, co workers and family way in adcvance.
My cooking tragedies
Ha! One great failure stands out. Some times it is still a sore subject between ex-hubby and me. When he was in grad school and we were on a budget, I made "Mexican Meatloaf" It smelled wonderful but it bounced like rubber. It was totally inedible. I have never lived that one down.

Gourmet Mushroom Risotto
Love this recipe. I've tweaked it a bit for my tastes. I use different mushrooms and eliminate the salt. I also add some extra herbs... whatever happens to strike my fancy. Tonight I think rosemary and garlic from the garden. This is my go to recipe.
