Peanut Butter and Banana Smoothie

Reviewed: May 4, 2013
The only thing I did was use almond milk instead of soy milk. I left out the honey as well. It is delish and refreshing! Def will be making this again. I think the calorie count is a bit off. Mine ended up being 335 calories.

Quick and Easy Pizza Crust

Reviewed: Feb. 1, 2013
i would give this a perfect five if the crust didn't come out so bland. totally agree that you need to season it before sticking it in the oven. besides that, this is by far the easiest and quickest pizza crust recipe out there. i love how you don't need to spend time kneading and waiting for it to rise. since i had time to spare, i did let it sit for about 30 minutes, and it had already more than doubled in size. i followed the rest of the recipe to a T - baked it on my pizza stone for 15 min, and the crust was crispy on the inside and chewy on the outside. just how i like it!

Bread Pudding II

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2012
this turned out rather tasty! the only thing i tweaked was cutting down the sugar to 1/2 cup since i don't like my desserts to be super sweet. i used golden raisins since i'm a fan, and i used day old sourdough bread which worked really well. next time i'm going to add some rum to the liquid mix =)

Brooke's Best Bombshell Brownies

Reviewed: Sep. 7, 2012
i was expecting an AMAZING brownie based on the rating/reviews of the recipe, but like some reviews out there, mine didn't turn out gooey like what most people described. it wasn't cakelike either, i would say it was in between. it def was chewy, but not as fudgy as most people say it is. besides cutting down the sugar to two cups (which is plenty since it was already pretty sweet), i followed the recipe to a T, so i'm not sure why mine just wasn't all that amazing. i think i'll try another brownie recipe...

Kay's Spaghetti and Lasagna Sauce

Reviewed: Mar. 18, 2012
nancysj - this sauce actually turns out really well if you read other people's suggestions below. i gave this two stars because i did a lot of modifications - i believe that a recipe can only be rated high based on the ORIGINAL recipe, not on modifications. this might be why it's gotten such a high rating. anyways, i combined a bunch of reviewers' ideas into one. first of all, i used 14 oz cans instead of the 28 oz, and i thought it was plenty saucy. instead of stewed tomatoes, i used a can of pureed tomatoes plus a 6 oz can of tomato paste to thicken the sauce. i only used 1 tbsp of sugar which i felt like was plenty, and i only used 1 bell pepper. instead of ground beef i used a pound of chicken sausage (casings removed). it came out pretty flavorful - next time i'm going to add more oregano and some rosemary.

Penne with Chicken and Asparagus

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2012
I can't give this recipe five stars because it doesn't go well with pasta. The chicken broth is the only ingredient that makes it 'saucy,' and I feel like even that isn't enough. I cooked the chicken and asparagus according to the recipe, and it came out rather flavorful, but instead of using penne, I just ate it with whole grain rice. I would rename the recipe rice with chicken and asparagus =)

Best Ever Muffins

Reviewed: Feb. 17, 2012
The first time I baked this, I followed the recipe to a T, and it came out tasting more like cornbread than muffins. I knew it wouldn't come out right when the batter was lumpy, as described. The second time around, I made some small tweaks, and it came out tasting like muffins! I used 1.5 cups of flour instead of 2, and I didn't have milk, so I used vanilla soy milk instead. Because of that, I cut down the sugar a little. I also added some chocolate chips into the batter. This is a good base recipe for muffins, so I'll def use it again. Next time I'll try either adding cranberries or blueberries. I would've given it five stars if I didn't have to make any tweaks to the original recipe.

Quinoa and Black Beans

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2012
extremely simple and tasty recipe! i love quinoa, but this is the first time that i cooked it on the stovetop and mixed it with other ingredients. i didn't have any cumin so i added more cayenne pepper, and it give it a really good kick. i didn't include any fresh cilantro since i didn't have any on hand. also, like what others suggested, i used one can of black beans, and it was plenty. i used a cup of chicken broth instead of veggie broth, and it was the perfect amount as well. i nixed the salt since the broth already had sodium included. you can eat this as a healthy main dish, but i used it as a side dish along with some baked salmon. DELISH!

Oven Roasted Red Potatoes

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2011
If you are looking for something fast and easy to prepare, then this recipe is just for you. I couldn't find dry onion soup mix, so I just mixed the red potatoes in some mrs. dash garlic and herb seasoning. I also quartered the potatoes like others suggested to cut down on baking time - 30 min was just enough time. The reason why I couldn't give it a perfect 5 out of 5 is because the seasoning wasn't enough - it might have been because the seasoning I used was salt free. If your mix doesn't have salt in it, then I would recommend adding some in before baking.

Chocolate Crinkles II

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2011
these are super easy to make, and they are rather tasty too! i suggest chilling them in the fridge for a few hours so they aren't so sticky when you roll them into balls and dip them in the powdered sugar. i will def be making these again!

Shoyu Chicken

Reviewed: Aug. 27, 2011
i'm not from hawaii so i don't know what 'real' shoyu chicken tastes like, but this came out REALLY tender and flavorful!! it's rare that i get these recipes right on the first try which is why i have to give this five stars. i left out the ginger root, red pepper flakes, and paprika since i didn't have any at home, but it still tasted good. the cayenne pepper really gave it a kick. i think if i added the red pepper flakes it would've been way too spicy for me. i also decided to marinate this overnight, and i believe that's the best way to do it because the flavor really soaked itself into the chicken. since i don't have a grill, i followed another reviewer's suggestion and cooked it in a big pot for 45 min - simmered it on medium/low. i also used low sodium chicken stock instead of water. i also cut down on the soy sauce b/c i thought it would be way too salty, and it still came out perfect. i will def be making this again! so fast and easy!

English Muffin Loaves

Reviewed: Aug. 19, 2011
this was a total failure! i followed the recipe to a T, and it didn't come out like it was supposed to at ALL. i'm still not sure what i did wrong. maybe there was something wrong with my yeast? i'm glad that i only made one loaf, so i didn't waste a lot of ingredients. i def won't be making this again and will be deleting it from my recipe box. i think this is the first time i made something on allrecipes that completely bombed.

Chicken Cacciatore

Reviewed: Aug. 15, 2011
This is good and easy to make, although the prep time took me far longer than 15 minutes. Maybe I'm just slow when it comes to cutting and chopping. I've had it both with rice and linguine, and both have tasted good!

Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookies I

Reviewed: May 2, 2011
Followed this recipe as is, and the cookies turned out SO good!! If you're a chocolate lover, then you'll love these cookies. I ate two after they had cooled down, and I wanted to eat more, but had the willpower to stop. I halved the recipe, but it still ended up making more than 3 dozen. I guess if you use tablespoonfuls rather than teaspoonfuls than it might've been closer to being two dozen. I also ended up baking them for the full ten minutes. I was afraid they might've been overcooked, but they were still nice and chewy! I didn't add the walnuts, and I used Hershey's special dark chocolate chip cookies. Oh yeah - make sure you have a glass of milk nearby!

Donut Muffins

Reviewed: Mar. 20, 2011
This didn't taste as good as I thought it would be after reading all these reviews. I was hoping that it would taste more like a donut than a muffin, but it didn't. I should've listened to the other reviews and cut down on the nutmeg. I am a fan of nutmeg, but the amount called in this recipe made it way too overpowering. I felt like I could've cut down on the sugar as well. Also, you can probably cut the cinnamon sugar mixture by half. I think if I make this again, I'll go ahead and roll the dough in the cinnamon sugar before baking - then it'll taste like a snickerdoodle muffin!

Easy Hummus

Reviewed: Aug. 20, 2010
Great recipe! And it still tasted like hummus despite the absence of tahini paste. Next time I make it, I'll probably only use two cloves of garlic. Three was a bit too garlicky. I also took out the jalapenos since I'm not a big fan of spicy. I also used about three tablespoons of the reserved bean liquid in addition to the one in the recipe because I like my hummus a bit creamier. I think next time I'll add in some black olives to see how it tastes. Overall, really simple and easy recipe! Thanks for sharing!
