My Best Clam Chowder

Reviewed: Jun. 25, 2013
Very delicious! I gave it 4 stars simply because it wasn't the BEST clam chowder I have ever tasted, but it sure is yummy!! I made the mistake of dumping the drained clams whole into the chowder before thinking that I should probably cut them up first. So I ended up fishing them out, chopping them, and putting them back in.

Classic Dinner Rolls

Reviewed: Jun. 25, 2013
These rolls are super easy to make and SO yummy! The only down side to them is that within about an hour they turn rock hard, so they are definitely just for making to with your meal and not save any for later. Not that you COULD save any, since they are so delicious you will probably finish them all before thinking about it!

Artichoke Spinach Lasagna

Reviewed: Jun. 25, 2013
I LOVE this recipe! The best part are the artichokes. It is so nice to have an alternative to the traditional lasagna. I will continue making this, as it is a huge hit in family, including my 2, 3 and 4 year olds!

Chef John's Lemon Bars

Reviewed: Jun. 25, 2013
My favorite dessert is lemon meringue pie, so when I saw this quick and easy treat that could possibly give me my lemon fix without all the work of a pie, I was all over it! I actually had my 3 and 4 year olds make this all by themselves. (I just scooped the ingredients for them, they poured them in and mixed them and I baked it). These are super yummy and very lemony. You MUST use fresh lemon to get the real lemon flavor.

Mango Pina Colada Smoothie

Reviewed: Jun. 24, 2013
I usually try the recipe, rate it, and then alter it. This time I did have to alter it simply because I had a really ripe mango that needed to be eaten or it was going to go bad. I changed two things, I used frozen pineapple because I didn't have any juice, and I used 1/2 cup cottage cheese instead of heavy cream, since I didn't have that either. Should have resulted in a very similar flavor though so I feel okay giving an honest review, and it was divine! I will be making this again for sure. I'm off to go serve it to my kids :)

Blueberry Sour Cream Coffee Cake

Reviewed: Jun. 16, 2013
AMAZING!!! Perfect in every way just the way it is! all kept moaning with delight and commenting on how yummy it was. I made it for my husband and kids for Father's Day and they I will be making this over and over again. The only change I did make was using almonds instead of pecans, since that is all I had, but I know it would be just as divine with the pecans. You HAVE to make this recipe!

Southwestern Roasted Corn Salad

Reviewed: May 22, 2013
I loved this salad as it had such a fresh and summery taste to it! Perfect for summer BBQ's :) The whole red onion was a bit overbearing for my kids, so I would suggest if you are serving it to children or a crowd, to only use half an onion. I am thinking about adding some black or pinto beans, extra lime and some jalapeno next time and making it a corn salsa, served with chips! YUM!

This is the most deicious potato soup I have ever had! I surprised my husband with it one night thinking it would be just an ordinary dinner, but he was blown away and said hinting, "You can make this ANY TIME you like!". DELICIOUS just the way the recipe is listed!

Loved this! I forgot to get farfalle at the store, so I used whole wheat penne instead, and it was excellent! So fresh! I especially loved the tomatoes and artichoke chunks. YUM!

Chocolate Carmel Pear Pops

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2013
DELICIOUS!! Even my husband, who isn't very fond of pears, was commenting left and right about how delicious these pears are! The topping is SO yummy and smells heavenly. I will be making these as gifts, and for dessert especially around the holidays! Substitute strawberries, banana or any other fruit for the pears, and it will still be divine! I am dreaming of making some frozen chocolate bananas with this recipe :)

Steak Salad with Medjool Dates & Blue Cheese

Yummy! My husband isn't a fan of blue cheese, but he was able to eat this. Next time we will be trying feta or perhaps goat cheese instead. The steak marinade was so delicious!!

Mini German Pancakes

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2013
I love this recipe! It tastes like mini dutch babies, with the same custard-like consistency. The only thing mine didn't do was hollow out in the middle like the recipe said they would. They came out more like a muffin. Still delicious though!

Pumpkin Parfait

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2011
This is DELICIOUS! This recipe is very basic, and although it doesn't need to be, I doctored it up quite a bit. I used a large box of Instant Pudding and used 2 tsp cinnamon, 1/4 tsp nutmeg and 1/8 tsp allspice because I didn't have any pumpkin pie spice. I like to layer my parfait, so I crushed up vanilla wafers and pecans and layered it with Redi Whip in a goblet! I layered wafers first, then this pumpkin pudding, pecans and then Redi Whip. I repeated this layering once more and topped with a sprinkling of wafers and pecans. This recipe made 4 large goblets filled 1/3 of the way and 5 cordials which I served to all of the children at our get together. It was a huge hit, especially with the kids who exclaimed enthusiastically how much they LOVE pumpkin pie, and this was even better! I will be adding this to my recipe book and sharing it with lots of my friends!

Lana's Sweet and Sour Meatballs

Reviewed: Oct. 6, 2011
This was DELICIOUS!! My husband and I were savoring every single bite and kept looking at each other and laughing because we couldn't believe how good it was! I didn't have pineapple chunks so I used crushed pineapple instead. It actually worked wonderfully and it was pretty great having pineapple in every bite! I still love large pineapple chunks so will try that next time. I also added a red bell pepper since I had one in my refrigerator and needed to use it up before it went bad. It was a great addition! The only thing I would really change next time just to add a little more jazz would be to omit the ground ginger and instead julienne fresh ginger instead. We LOVE ginger, so having bites of whole ginger would be so yummy! I LOVE the meatballs even alone. I am going to make a whole bunch and freeze them as some have suggested to use in other recipes. What a great idea! This is a really fun recipe to make. I thoroughly enjoyed it!

Broccoli Chicken Divan

Reviewed: Sep. 26, 2011
It's pretty hard to mess up Chicken Divan, but the thing I like about this recipe is that it uses cream of broccoli soup instead of other soups. This I had never tried before and it was delicious! I had to spice up my chicken so I added garlic powder, salt, pepper and a pinch of curry powder as I sauteed it in olive oil. I added more fresh broccoli than the recipe calls for because that's my favorite part, and decided to bake bisquits on top instead of bread crumbs. To do this I made up a batch of bisuit dough, cooked up the chicken divan in the oven for about 10 minutes, then as it was hot and bubbly, I took it out real quick, plopped some dough on top and stuck it back in the oven for another 11-15 minutes. The bisquits turned out perfect, and weren't doughy at all! I know the trick is to put it in once the chicken divan is hot and bubbly so it can kind-of cook the bottom of the bisquits. YUM!

This recipe is delicious! It tastes just like my grandma's that I have had every Christmas growing up. Now that I have my own family I wanted to start the tradition myself.

Butternut Squash Soup

Reviewed: Aug. 25, 2010
SOOOO Good! I experimented with this soup with my mom and my husband and we all indulged in just 3/4 cup each and it was not only delicious but was very rich and filling! We all kept rolling it around in our mouths and commenting on the flavors. The red pepper leaves a slight spice in the back of your throat, but it is great. I followed the recipe exactly and made no changes. It is a pretty soup that can be garnished with many things like green onion, bacon bits, or thyme. I've never used Marjoram before, but now I will be trying it in other dishes since it was so good. My mom hates butternut squash, but loved this soup! We all agree that this would be a good starter soup to a pork, turkey or roast. It's very rich, so you only need to serve about 1/2 to 3/4 cup per person.
