About this Cook
Just a small town girl that's been cooking since I was 13, now 27 and getting better and better. M
My favorite things to cook
Homemade chunky, meaty spaghetti sauce with meatballs, cakes, pies and anything that my family requests
My favorite family cooking traditions
Making pizza's with my girls and cooking with holiday themes with my girls...from October-Jan me and my girls cook something special depending on the up coming holiday every weekend.
My cooking triumphs
When I was 15 I made my first cheesecake (baked)...shortbread crust and cherry chocolate topping...and to this day every Thanksgiving and Christmas it is requested
My cooking tragedies
I never made beans from a bag before and tried it...I tried to make some bake beans...my can baked beans are awesome because I always tweak them to fit my taste...but the homemade baked beans was a train wreck...so bad my family was afraid to tell me how they really felt LOL...

Whoopie Pies II
These where amazing,my cakes came out a little big and thick and I think I made more than 12. I am trying different pans to see if that was the reason, however everyone loved them anyway. I followed the recipe exactly except instead of hot water I used hot coffee because it was right there and I didn't want it to go to waste. I have never made whoopie pies before and this was a very easy recipe to follow. I was nervous about making the marshmallow filling but it came out beautifully.

Grandmother's Buttermilk Cornbread
I am a true southerner and I do like my cornbread sweet my grandmother use to sweeten her cornbread with honey and topped it with honeybutter...Now if you like sweet cornbread follow directions if you like it slightly sweet use half the sugar if you are a "true southerner" like plain cornbread don't use the sugar at all...simple. Now my family likes this cornbread and I melt my butter in a cast iron skillet and then pour my batter in (my grandmother always made it that way) it comes out the pan easy and have that nice buttery taste to it.
