Italian Anisette Cookies
About this Cook
I am a 14 year old baker that has been creating things in the kitchen my whole life, basically. I really started getting more involved and interested around age 8, and now I hope to own a "Bakeria" someday; I can't make up my mind between owning a pizzeria or a bakery!
My favorite things to cook
I love baking cookies and cakes because they're simple and fun to play around with, and I enjoy cooking healthy dinners for my family. But if you put me in the kitchen, I will cook anything based on the ingredients at hand.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My parents were never really into cooking or baking from scratch, but my grandma makes a mean banana bread. I have faith that I could one day challenge her recipe with my own...
My cooking triumphs
I remember a time when I was younger, I had set out to make my mom's birthday cake for her all by myself. I got this wonderful chocolate cake recipe, made it from scratch, and baked it without any of her help. I surprised her with what she still calls "the best cake I've ever had!".
My cooking tragedies
Once when I was 9 years old, I decided to do one of my experiments in the kitchen. I pulled out a bunch of random ingredients, including rainbow sprinkles, in hopes of creating some sort of chocolate cake. Of course, I did it without a recipe or any help, and had a short knowledge of baking at the time. When it came out of the oven, it was this gross, grayish brown loaf of playdough cake with unappetizing sprinkles. I was the only one who ate it that day.

Boiled Bagels
I made these yesterday and ate one today, and they were waaaaaayyyy too salty. It was like swallowing ocean water! They also didn't rise and only got slightly bigger when I boiled them, but they still turned out really puny. I think I'll try a different bagel recipe next time.

Italian Cookies I
These were AMAZING! I made them for my italian grandma and she loved them. I used anise extract instead, and they tasted just like I remember. I dipped the cookies in a confectioner's sugar glaze and added sprinkles on top, too, and they were a hit!

Bread in a Bag
The bread tasted good but it was kinda hard and crusty. It also burned really easily, making for bad toast and grilled cheese. I found the bag to be more of a pain and more time consuming, personally. The bread eventually softened up and tasted better, though.
