About this Cook
I didn't get comfortable cooking until I was married and wondering what I was going to do with the meats I was taking home from the dear friend gave me a cookbook for a wedding gift and said "if you can read you can cook!" and the rest is history...!
My favorite things to cook
I am the main dish cook whenever we get together with my husband's large family. Spaghetti and sides, mexican salad, tenderloin roast, fried chicken with milk gravy..I just love to cook for people who wouldn't ever make these things for themselves.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mother never used spices or condiments of any kind. Her meals were very good, but after years of eating pretty much the same things I was thrilled to start my own traditions after I married. Our daughter also loves to cook and bake and while I still follow a recipe to the letter, she adlibs with everything she makes. My husband makes the turkey and stuffing several times a year.
My cooking triumphs
The first time I ever made a tenderloin that I cut into steaks myself, made the pate to go on top of the steak and wrapped it in puff pastry. I was nervous, but I made it for a special family celebration and it was wonderful.
My cooking tragedies
Very few actually since I follow instructions. Early one I tried to make wheat croissants..twice..and can still vividly see me putting it all in the garbage can..twice. I still don't feel comfortable with using yeast!

Diane's Colcannon
I have always wanted to make this recipe, and finally did when I saw this one! Did it all by the book and it was absolutely delicious! I would love to know how someone in 2007 used the leftovers...I am thinking of making potatoe pancakes!

Garlic Spinach
Made it exactly as recipe and wouldn't have changed a thing. We love spinach, to two of us ate the whole recipe

Easy Olive Martini Chicken
My husband and I absolutely loved this! I used vodka but I doubt it changed the taste. I did the rest by recipe, but I did triple the sauce. I would even increase it next time. I think I rediced it a bit too long, so we just had enough for 2. So delicious I guess our servings of sauce went overboard! I served it with the garlic spinach recipe on this site. So fun to try 2 new recipes. I checked out recipes that had ingredients I had on hand, and they are both great recipes!
