Crispy Orange Beef

Reviewed: Sep. 9, 2011
I made this exactly as written and it was excellent. My husband loved it as well. The sauce and the beef were both great, although I think I would add a tad more ginger and a little bit of sesame oil as well. I did change the accompanying vegetables as I'm the only one that likes broccoli. I stir-fried some carrots, onions, and sugar snap peas in the remaining oil just before I added the garlic, ginger, and orange zest to the pan. Amazingly good!

Caramel Apple Pork Chops

Yum! I did these in a flameproof brasier, browned them and then let them cook slowly with the lid on. Made the sauce separately, and served on a pretty tray. They were tender and tasty. I would probably be tempted to add some thyme or lemon thyme to them next time just to add a little more depth of flavor. Oh.....I used regular butter instead of the unsalted.

Winter Fruit Salad with Lemon Poppyseed Dressing

Reviewed: Oct. 2, 2010
This was excellent. I cut down on the oil just a bit....because I was running out. Other than that, I didn't change anything. It was delicious, pretty, and unusual. The lemon gave it a lighter, fresher taste and feel. Great recipes. I'll be serving it on Christmas.

Garlic Shrimp Linguine

The only reason I wouldnt' give this 5 stars is because you definitely have to tweak this by tripling the sauce. Double is good but triple is great. Serve with a grating of parmesan regiano and freshly ground black pepper. Outstanding.

Roasted Tomatillo and Garlic Salsa

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2007
I loved this and so did my family. I used 3 jalapenos as the ones I had weren't particularly hot. I didn't have any cilantro in the house so I didn't use any and it was still great. Fantastic flavor.

This was great. I about doubled the filling though, I like a lot of fruit. I also added a sprinkle of cinnamon, too. This is so amazing still warm with some vanilla ice cream.

Herb Roasted Pork

Excellent. I doubled the sauce......it tasted great with the baked potatoes we had with it. Also, the cooking time was a little long. We ate it at about 2 hrs. rather than 3 and I think 3 would have turned it into sawdust. Great recipe. Definitely a keeper.

Veal Stew

I rate it two stars only because the wine was ridiculously overpowering. I have to wonder if the amount was a mistake. I like a little wine flavoring but this made it taste sour. I ended up adding a lot of cream to it to tame it. I think the flavor would have been outstanding otherwise.

Candied Chicken Breasts

Reviewed: May 9, 2003
I have five kids and they all loved this and ate it( until the picky ones found out there was ketchup and mustard in it). I didn't have pineapple rings in the house so I just threw in a can of crushed pineapple. I also used bone-in chicken breasts. This was great. Very tasty, tender, and great over any type of rice. We'll have it again!
