My favorite family cooking traditions
When my aunt Jenny makes my Mom's lasange... my Dad's baked ham with carrots, potatoes, cabbage onions.
My cooking triumphs
When I first lived in Germany I made these Amaretto Bon Bons, that were dipped in both white chocolate dark chocolate.. they came out awesome.. mmm! Probably one of the most tedious things I've ever made! Such a long process, but totally worth it, they were awesome.
My cooking tragedies
umm...yeah. : When I first started to explore the kitchen really, I decided a ketchup sandwich (two slices of really white bread and a whole lot of ketchup) would be the greatest, tastiest thing! disaster. I also found out the hard way, that you can't put out a grease fire with water.... but we wont get into that.

Quick and Easy Pizza Crust
I like this recipe, because it's super quick, and quite easy. The changes I made are: adding herbs, and onion/garlic powder to the dough, and I brushed the crust lightly with butter, after 10 minutes in the oven, and sprinkled with parmesan. I liked a review that I read, about making flatbread out of the recipe! sounds good -- I'll have to try that! What I would do differently in the future, is let the dough rise for 30 min., instead of 5... and I might add a touch more olive oil, or something to the crust, to make it a bit less dry. :-) What I loved most about this recipe was, is that I had EVERYTHING in the house already, and didn't need to go out and buy any extra ingredients. Thank you!

Cucumber Sandwiches I
This is a nice, light snack or appetizer, especially for summer. I used Philadelphia light yogurt cream cheese, and it had a nicer and lighter taste... and in addition to that I also sprinkled the cucumber slices in a separate bowl with lemon and a pinch of salt first... and finished with a bit of dill sprinkled on top! For my bread, I used blackbread (I guess it's similar to pumpernickel - but it has sunflower seeds in it... totally delish!)

Pancakes
This recipe was great, simple and handy! To make it it more healthy, I used a mixture of flour... spelt flour and wheat flour!! In addition, I added a dash of nutmeg and a teaspoon of cinnamon to the flour and stirred well. I didn't have self-rising flour at home, so I made my own. To make your own self-rising flour - for each cup of flour - you just need to add 1/4 to 1/2 tsp salt, and 1, 1/2 tsp baking soda and sift together - voila! And to make it even more healthy - and flavorful, I used reduced sugar applesauce instead of syrup, and garnished with half of a small apple and half of a small banana in slices mmm - hubby cleaned the plate! (Look for a picture - I added to my review) Yum! Thanks for sharing your recipe - I've already shared with my friends. :-) Will definitely make it again!
