Sweet Dinner Rolls

Reviewed: May 14, 2011
Followed the recipe exactly, except that I melted the butter and brused with butter after the second rise before they went into the oven. Fresh out of the oven, these are heavenly, especially with a light spread of butter. The next morning, I used them to make egg and cheese sandwiches and they were even better. The next time, I'll add some vital wheat gluten to make them even lighter and fluffier!! Highly recommended, this one will be added to my recipe box

Honey Oatmeal Bread II

Reviewed: Aug. 17, 2010
Instead of 2 tablespoons of butter, I used the whole stick for the recipe. I also used some 10 grain cereal, prepared according to the package directions and allowed to cool while the oatmeal mixture soaked, used 1/3 whole wheat bread flour....also, i crused some oats and the ten grain cereal and used egg wash to help it stick to the bread. Even with all those changes, my friends and family swear that it is the best bread they've every tasted! this will be my go-to recipe (with my changes incorporated) for eternity! Thanks Leslie

Oatmeal Sourdough Rolls

Reviewed: May 23, 2010
these rolls are amazing....i made them in the kitchenaid stand mixer, added all the ingredients with the dough hook. Had to add more flour as mentioned by the other reviewers when making in the stand mixer. Very simple, added to mixing bowl, set on low, added additional flour as needed, oiled mixer bowl, covered with plastic wrap allowed to rise for an hour or so, kneeded a few times, formed into rolls and placed on oiled baking sheet, covered with damp kitchen towel and allowed to rise for an additional hour and then baked according to directions! I will be making this again!!!

Ciabatta

Reviewed: May 21, 2010
I actually did not make or use the sponge, i used a cup of the sourdough starter recipe from this site!! I have to say that this bread was absolutely delish! I will be making it again next week with my sourdough starter that will be two weeks old by then! The only changes was an increase of the yeast to 1 tsp. and an extra tablespoon of very good quality olive oil...thanks Benoit!

Cream Cheese Pound Cake III

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2009
This pound cake is very good, I left the eggs, butermilk, butter and cream cheese out for several hours to make sure it was roome temp and very soft. I used softassilk cake flour, which added significantly to the texture. I also added vanilla, lemon, butter and rum flavors. That being said, there is that rich, deep pound cake flavor missing. Next time, I will sub a half cup of butter for an extra cup of cream cheese, add more flavorings and see if I can make it 5 stars. Otherwise, good taste, good texture and a great starting place to be tweeked!

Belgian Waffles

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2009
This recipe is amazing!! I recieved a waring pro waffle maker from my now husband as a gift and was looking for a true belgian waffle recipe to try. I have made this several times of the year and must admit that these were the best waffles I have ever tasted! Definitely freeze any leftovers between waxed paper and in a freezer bag...you will not be disappointed!

Amish White Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2009
I was inspired to try to bake my own bread by some advertisements I saw recently for a bread machine. I was very surprised that I did so well with my first try on a yeast bread. I kneaded the dough in my stand mixer according to the KitchenAid instructions in the manual. I followed the recipe to the letter, except I brushed the tops of the loaf with butter and baked in the oven with a cookie sheet filled with water. The bread is a little sweet, but was delicious right out of the oven with a little butter. Next time, I will decrease the sugar to three tablespoons. I'll update my review with any changes. I say cut the recipe in half and try it as is and then make any necessary adjustments thereafter. UPDATE 4/6/11: Made as is, except subed a stick of margarine for the oil. Left first loaf as is. For second loaf, rolled out then with rolling pin, added cheese and italian seasoning blend and rolled back up. Added more cheese and seasoning on top. Drizzled both with an extra tablespoon of olive oil and baked as directed. OH MY GOODNESS..made the best bread I have ever tasted. The plain loaf was not too sweet at all, had a beautiful golden brown crust and amazing texture. The cheesy bread was the absolute best, golden brown crust as well with a swirl of cheese in the middle...will make great turkey, ham or roast beef sandwiches. Highly recommended, definitely deserves more than 5 stars!!

Buttermilk Pancakes II

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2008
This recipe is absolutely awesome!! I had some leftover buttermilk to use...but realized that I didn't have any milk after everything was already mixed. So, I used heavy cream since it was only a half cup. I took the advice of others and added a tablespoon of lemon juice and allowed it to sit overnight! Also please add a teaspoon (or two) of vanilla!!! This does make a ton of batter, but I am doing quite well with using it by myself. Also, cook on medium low heat..medium is too high and will cook too quickly!!

Waffles I

Reviewed: Apr. 23, 2007
These waffles were fantastic, with a few minor adjustments. I added an additional tablespoon of sugar and a whole teaspoon of Mexican vanilla. I made this in my Kitchen Aid stand mixer and used a Waring Pro waffle maker set to #4. I had one a little after I made the batter yesterday and again just now for breakfast. Absolutely wonderful with butter and syrup. Very crisp and brown on the outside and very moist and tender on the inside. I will definitely keep this recipe and make these again.

Bourbon Chicken

Reviewed: Apr. 19, 2002
I have made this recipe several times and each time it comes out great. I also only marinate the chicken for an hour. I make it with garlic and olive oil noodles and glazed carrots. It is a quick dinner if you prep it and it is delicious.

Strawberry Pie II

Reviewed: Apr. 19, 2002
This pie was the best. My friends and co-workers raved about and told me to pass the recipe along. I did make a few changes. I added a tablespoon of unsalted butter to the cooked strawberry mixture and I also made it with a butter cookie crust. I served it ice cold and it was a great treat. Will make again, but this time with less sugar as suggest by others.
