Basic Baked Spaghetti

Reviewed: Apr. 7, 2012
This is great recipea for me because I can fix it the night before and refridgerate. When I get home in the evening all I have to do is pop it in the microwave to warm it up, then add the cheese on top and follow baking directions. With a bagged green salad and a crusty roll it feels like someone was at home making a delicious dinner for us! It does need a little more sauce than the recipe calls for so buy a larger jar and add to your taste. You can also tweak the cheese to your taste. I use the shredded Italian mix you can buy. Thanks for this recipe!!!

Slow Cooker Pork Chops

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2012
Easy, but oh so much better when you sprinkle the pork chops with some fresh garlic and salt and pepper and then brown in olive oil first. Also, if you put the pork chops on top of the saurkraut they don't get drowned in all that juice and their flavor goes through the saurkraut.

Slow Cooker Salisbury Steak

Reviewed: Jun. 18, 2011
I don't like changing people's recipes, especially when they are this good - but this has way too much sodium for us older folks. To modify it I omitted the onion soup and substituted chopped onion, used lower sodium soup, and instead of the au jus packet substitued a Herb ox sodium free beef boullion packet. Delcious! Thanks for the recipe!

Favorite Barbecue Chicken

Reviewed: Jun. 16, 2011
Love to grill but had no time. Doubled the sauce recipe and put four frozen chicken breasts in crock pot, dumped the sauce on top - slow cooked about eight hours. House smelled so good when we got home. Serve with a bagged green salad and microwave baked potatoes with a little extra sauce and some shredded cheese on top. Delicious! Felt like someone had been home cooking dinner for us!

Slow-Cooker Pepper Steak

Reviewed: Mar. 30, 2011
I make this often and it's my husbands favorite. I do wait to add the peppers. The only other difference is that I use my own beef broth - from cooking a brisket in the crock pot - thickened with some cornstarch, - or powdered gravy mix if I don't have any on hand. Served over rice this is a delicious dinner!

Beer Batter Fish Made Great

Reviewed: Mar. 22, 2011
I agree with some other reviewers. Cut the salt in half when making the batter and sprinkle salt on the fish after removing from the fryer. Great recipe. Thanks!

Missy's Lasagna

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2011
Easy and good. Can add more spice if you like or use jarred spaghetti sauce instead of tomato sauce but remember the bread crumbs you add to the cheese mixture are Italian seasoned. Delcious as is. Thanks Missy.

Best Bread Machine Bread

Reviewed: Mar. 1, 2011
Terrific recipe! If you want a really crispy crust just leave out the oil. It dries out faster but never lasts longer than a day in my house anyway. I have also made it with two and a half cups of white bread flour and a half cup of stone ground rye flour - delicious!

Spinach Cheese Ball

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2011
This freezes well, so all of you who think it makes too much, shape it into two balls and freeze one for next time. Great recipe! Thanks!

Mini Cheeseburgers

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2011
Fun, easy and delicious. I add about a quarter cup of quick cooking oatmeal to the mixture to help it stick together and for nutrition. You can't tell it's there when they are cooked. Also, because my family prefers mustard to ketchup I will put that on the top of some of them next time. A really good recipe that will become a family staple. Thank you!

White Chocolate Macadamia Cranberry Dreams

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2010
Very good cookie dough that you can use to add extras to suite your taste. Next time I am going to try it with the white baking chips, chopped blanched almonds, and white raisins -or chopped candied cherries for Christmas color. Wonderful the way it is though.

Peanut Butter Cup Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2010
These are delicious just the way they are - but if you are pressed for time the store-bought sugar cookie dough - in the rolls in the refrigerator section - also works really well. Just make the balls and press into mini muffin tin and continue. Really good!

Baked Spaghetti

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2010
This is a great recipe that can be adapted easily to individual tastes. The only change I really recommend is breaking the spaghetti into pieces before cooking. Then you have a real kid- friendly casserole - and I also like not having to twirl! Thank you Louise!

Wonderful Meatloaf

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2010
Great recipe! I like to bake it in muffin cups. Just press into muffin cups and bake at 350 for about 25 minutes. Wait until last 10 minutes before adding about a tablespoon of ketchup or chili sauce on top of each one. Tastes like stuffed peppers without the peppers. Delicious! They usually pop out easily but if the beef is lean I would spray with cooking spray first. I also have substituted about a third cup of raw minute rice when cooked rice is not available - and I add an egg to help it hold together.

Slow Cooker Cranberry Turkey Breast

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2010
Love this but not so much onion. I rubbed the jellied cranberry sauce into the turkey breast and sprinkled the onion soup on top - about half the package. I just used water in the bottom of the crock pot -no orange juice. Delicious and easy! My turkey breast was bigger and not boneless. Cooked an hour on high before switching to low. Next time will try pouring the orange juice over the breast in the pot before rubbing in the cranberry sauce.

Cindy's Awesome Clam Chowder

Reviewed: Oct. 30, 2010
Wow! Tasted clam chowder at various restaurants in Boston and this one rates right up there with the best. The only change I made was to use Land of Lakes fat free half and half - just for health reasons. Some of our local grocery stores do not have the potato leak soup and after I tried this soup I knew I needed it -so I went back and bought six of them so I'd have it on hand. Will make again and again! Next time I'm going to add a can of minced clams to get a little more clam flavor - but good as it is! Also, definitely use red potatoes.

Hearty Hamburger Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 30, 2010
This makes a LOT. I made it in the crock pot and needed my six quart one. I chunked the veggies instead of mincing them. It simmered all day and made the kitchen smell great. I didn't change any of the ingredients except for a little more ground beef. The family LOVED it. I do wish I had added a bit more barley because I really like it. - Oh - and I used the lower sodium beef broth. I figure it's always easier to add salt later than to take it out if it's too much for my taste.

Slow Cooker Chicken Pot Pie Stew

Reviewed: Oct. 30, 2010
Great flavor and so easy but too salty. I hate tampering with people's recipes too much but this has enough sodium for a week. I fixed by subbing a teaspoon of minced garlic for the garlic salt, omitting the celery salt and bouillon cubes, just using one can of the condensed soup and adding a can of lower sodium chicken broth. Needs thickening with corn starch mixed with a little cold water.

Spaghetti Salad IV

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2010
Very good. I added chunks of cucumber because I like lots of veggies. Edit: I have made this several times and I have discovered that regular salad dressing - not light - makes everything "stick" better. I've tried several kinds and my favorite is Wishbone House Italian. I use Italian plum tomatoes because sometimes a regular tomato can be mushy - or sometimes just use grape tomatoes cut in half. My family loves this recipe!

Hurricane I

Reviewed: Oct. 8, 2010
Yes, it's yummy and authentic. But watch out, especially when serving to guests. It doesn't taste as boozy as it is. It looks like a big Shirley Temple, goes down very easily, and tastes like a delicious fruit punch with a nice splash of rum. NOT! I had to take a nap. But I do recommend it as a sipper! LOL
