I loved this. And a variation I tried for vegatarians worked brilliantly - just replace the beef with 1/2 lb of puy lentils and add 1/2 lb of very finely chopped mushrooms. You will need to add about 1/2 pint of liquid also, I used red wine. It was yummy.
