Chef John's Twice-Baked Potatoes

Reviewed: Mar. 7, 2013
This was great. I've made twice baked potatoes before and I'm throwing out that old recipe for this one. It had much more flavor (the amount of butter probably helped) and I liked the cayenne and paprika. I added ground beef in mine to make it a main dish. I didn't have any heavy cream on hand (who does?) so I subbed whole milk and melted butter (it says online that can be a substitute). It turned out great. I also sprinkled cheese on top before I threw it in a second time. Dipped it in some barbecue sauce and it was amazing (although it's fine without the sauce, too). The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars it because of the time it took. But definitely worth it.

Lemon Blueberry Bread

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2013
I used raspberries instead of blueberries and it turned out so yummy! I think it could've used a little less glaze, and I made sure to drop raspberries on the top of the mixture filled pan so not all the raspberries would sink to the bottom.

Mom's Country Gravy

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2012
It tasted fine. Like I expected, which is like other sausage gravies that I've had. I used butter instead of oil and added sausage and sausage grease as other reviewers recommended. But I wouldn't say this gravy is out of this world.

Brazilian Lemonade

Reviewed: Feb. 18, 2012
Two things: 5 pulses in the blender. Not 4, not 6, 5!! Next, DRINK IMMEDIATELY! 10 minutes later is too late, it starts to get bitter. Tastes like heaven when served immediately.

Jan's Pretzel Dogs

Reviewed: Nov. 8, 2011
To be honest, it tasted like a normal hot dog (in a regular bun, maybe a little saltier. But at least it looked nice. :)

Chocolate Caramel Nut Cheesecake

Reviewed: Oct. 23, 2011
I didn't even let it bake the full amount of time called for, and I still over baked it. Next time I'll try letting it bake even shorter. Can't really give it an accurate number of stars 'cause I don't know how it would've been.

Classic Dinner Rolls

I followed it exactly and it had an awful after taste. Don't know what I could've done wrong, I followed it step by step, measurement by measurement.

Decadent Peanut Butter Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2010
Very rich! Great for peanut butter chocolate lovers. I entered this into my faculty bake off. My only advice is to use a taller pie cover when storing it, especially if you put on lots of whipped topping. When I took off my regular plastic cover, some of the stripes stuck to it and came off. It looked pretty ugly after that...but, surprise! I still came away with third place- I guess the taste won out! The instructions say refrigerate until serving, but it also tastes good frozen!
