About this Cook
I love to cook, I also love to eat. I've been cooking ever since I was about 5 years old. Good homemade cooking seems to run in my family. I've been told, by my father, that I cook exactly the same way my grandmother did...not measuring anything.
My favorite things to cook
Any recipe my grandmother created, talk about comfort food, which I don't cook too often because of the calories. I also love to make my mom's recipe for cheesecake, everyone loves it.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Corned Beef and Cabbage. I'd request it for my birthday every year and my birthday is in December, which can make it difficult to find corned beef.
My cooking triumphs
hmmm, there aren't any. I've tried to make just about everything you can think of. I decorate cakes, make my own chocolates and even smoked fish a few times.
My cooking tragedies
Burning my hand on the oven when I was about 5 years old...that darn easy bake oven only made enough for one. Note: My mom thought I was using the easy bake oven not the big oven.

Crispy and Creamy Doughnuts
my first attempt at homemade donuts and I hit it out of the park with this recipe. My youngest son said these were better than the donuts at the bakery.

Grilled Venison Backstrap
I've made this a number of times and always get the same response...They LOVE it! I've soaked the venison for 1 hour in apple cider and 24 hours in apple cider, always turns out perfect! Note: my kids aren't big game eaters, but now they love venison.

To Die For Blueberry Muffins
I've made these many times, they are outstanding. Last year, during strawberry season, I made one batch with blueberries & one with diced up strawberries. everyone loved both but liked the strawberry more.
