Creme Brulee French Toast

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2011
I know that I made this correctly and it was awful. This shouldn't even be called French Toast... as it's not a true FT recipe... more like a sweet "strata". The sugar content was disgustingly high and all of the fat in it is not nearly worth the the calories... unless it was actually fabulous & divine. The bread was uneatably (don't think that's a word) soggy and I basically told my family that they were eating yogurt & fruit for breakfast. I will never attempt to make this again... I have no clue why so many people like it. If you still choose to make this, be sure to use all 5 eggs, possibly 6 and be prepared to cook it for longer... more like 45 minutes. I don't think the half & half added much so I would use whole milk instead.

Raspberry Breakfast Braid

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2011
Would never make again. I think it was gross. It sounded good but it just tasted like a Bisquik concoction with too much sugar (icing). Yes, it was easy, but I'd rather invest more time & ingredients and actually have a delicious pastry. I guess I was expecting something close to a Entanmnnen's breakfast pasrty. Not even my sugar-loving kids would finish it. We all felt a bit sick after wards... maybe we were all just on the brink of a diabetic coma, IDK.

Good, easy, comfort food. I add black beans, corn & whatever to the mixture. Very versatile.

Fluffy Pancakes

Reviewed: Jan. 26, 2011
This was a decent pancake, but that's all. I think that I just prefer a butter milk pancake. The fluffiness was over the top for me... but some may be trying to achieve that. The pancake was very filling b/c it was so... well, BIG.

Fluffy French Toast

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2011
This was very good but not ground breaking. I do think that the batter needs more cinnamon... and if some of you are having trouble with soggy FT, then leave a lid on for one minute at a time (then check it) so the toast cooks from the top along with the bottom/pan. I guess I'm still on the hunt for THE BEST French toast recipe.

World's Best Lasagna

Reviewed: Jan. 8, 2011
REDUCE THE SALT! This is the BEST lasagna that I've ever had but you HAVE TO reduce the salt. I think I use about 1/2-1 teaspoon... not a full tablespoon. I will never make lasagna again with a jarred sauce. This is amazing.

Chinese Chicken Salad III

Reviewed: Jan. 8, 2011
This recipe is fabulous! The only change that it needs is to add some juice from a can of mandarin oranges to the dressing. I always add extras to the salad like mandarin oranges, crispy noodles, slivered almonds... whatever.

Braised Balsamic Chicken

Absolutely love this recipe! There's soo much flavor in it! I only use 1/4 cup each of vinegar & chicken broth. Pasta or rice on the side... FABULOUS!

This was good but not perfect. I liked it better as a muffin. I'll try adding raisins next time & maybe pecans.

This was a good place to start but it needs a little tweaking. I'll make it again but it needs more flavor.

Slow Cooker Chicken Stroganoff

A regular is our house! I try to make it healthier sometimes by using reduced fat cream cheese and/or Healthy Request soup. Sometimes we have rice with it & sometimes it egg noodles. Soo good. Reheats fabulously too!

This recipe was OK but too similar to another that I have that is better. My Chicken Fajita recipe from Williams-Sonoma is tremendously better. I won't make this again as I'll stick to the fajita recipe.

Apple Squares

Reviewed: Jan. 8, 2011
I add more apples and less sugar in the bread part, but for the topping, I make a crumble with the sugar/cinnamon as I add some flour & butter to it also. Always use Granny Smith/tart apples. Soo good!

Vegetarian Chickpea Sandwich Filling

I was expecting something fabulous and I didn't care for it at all. I'm not a vegetarian, so maybe that's part of why I didn't like it. My husband said it was bad too. I will not make that again.
