I wouldn't call myself an expert cook. I enjoy cooking, and especially baking cookies and comfort food desserts. I've been married for over 20 years and I have two boys ages 9 and 14. My youngest is still a picky eater, but my oldest boy likes to help me cook and is trying new foods.
My favorite things to cook
I have a weakness for dessert and snacks, so I try to make things for potlucks and church fellowship, or I'll give it to my neighbors so I don't keep it in the house and eat it all. I also like to cook a lot of "comfort food" dishes and casseroles. Sometimes I don't have a lot of time to cook, so I like to find dishes that take less time, or I try to find ways to make the recipe quicker and easier to make.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My grandmother and my mom always made cookies and candy at Christmastime. I like to do that too. I also enjoy making Spicy Chex Mix in the fall -- it's a great snack all year long.
My cooking triumphs
I have taken several different dishes (some recipes found here on allrecipes) to my church functions, and I always receive compliments on whatever it is I brought.
My cooking tragedies
I've tried a few recipes that have flopped, thankfully none that I've served to guests. My kids are hard to please, but when my husband doesn't like it either, then I KNOW I'll never make it again.
