I haven't updated my "About Me" info in about a year. I am still a happily married woman going through some life changes. I discovered Massive Multiplayer Online Games last year (WoW and LOTRO) and so now I have multiple lives (and I'm a cook in all of them.)
My favorite things to cook
Anything in a slow cooker or baked (both savory and sweet). I love to make chili, lasagna, and bread. I like my vegi's naked and my fruit raw, so I'm not much on side dishes.
My favorite family cooking traditions
When we were first married we were so broke we couldn't afford presents for each other, let alone friends and family, so I was really sad. My husband pinched his pennies and bought a turkey, pie ingredients and assorted vegitables for my Christmas present. I cooked everyone dinner on New Year's Day. It was the perfect gift and now every New Year's Day I make a turkey and we have a party.
My cooking triumphs
My husband says that my cooking is better than most restaurants. He doesn't like eating out because he says he can get better food at home and the company is always good. The only food I've never mastered is German, so he likes to eat at small German-German (not American-German) restaurants when we do eat out.
My cooking tragedies
I can't make biscuits. The last time I tried they were pourable. The time before that, using the same recipe, they turned into hockey pucks. I don't understand why I can't make biscuits. I make soda bread, yeast bread, and other quick breads just fine. Biscuits elude me.
